Hi,
i hope i can help you:
Open skin studio open a skin and then and click save as ( not make wba package ) and enter new theme name and edit theme description and then start theming.
Then you can edit that skin without editing the older one. That goes for general/ whole theme.
Some elements are stored in .uis. or .sss You can edit these text files with any text editor. However this is a very dangerous method that can break skins, but does also sometimes work nice.
Another method is to save the theme part settings as code in SKS 7 or 8 ( full version) and then select the image and paste the settings in your new skin.
As in other guis too you can`t simply say lets use the scrollbar from this skin and the buttons from this another skin.
But you can merge both codes and images in a new skin. For that you need to know the exact locations of the definitions and not only where to find it in sks7 or 8. Maybe i can make a tutorial how to do it.
WARNING: Don`t post any theme that contains other presets on wincustomize.com. However in reality you always have 2-3 presets left from diamaond or microsoft main skin,if you are not a master skinner. Just don`t copy the main ideas or parts of third party themes of other themes intentionally without permissions , if you want to post it on wincustomize.com.
