What Symantec is indicating is called a 'false-positive' and they are one of the worst at getting it wrong.
Their mistakes simply negatively impact upon the reputations of LEGITIMATE software vendors, and it's a practise that really needs to be eliminated through compensation/restitution to the parties impugned.
In other words false-positives should incur some form of penalty. It's simply sloppy and or slack management of their methodology.
