This is something that happened in an isolated way over the summer, so it wasn't all that bothersome. But now it seems to have happened on a large scale, so I figured I'd come here to see if anyone could give me an explanation.
A bunch of my DesktopX weather widgets have broken all of a sudden. The one I'd been using for about a week (Candy Cane Lane) loaded wrong, with nothing but thunderstorm icons and showing my location as Boston. I cleared the cache, reloaded the widget, entered my zip code, and it gave me the right info. I restarted the computer, and it loaded in the busted fashion again. I went through all the steps to reload it but didn't restart. I also started trying other widgets, and all of them seemed to be loading in the same fashion--I'm in Boston, and there's nothing but thunderstorms forecast. This included trying the widget that I used for almost all of November, and which hadn't given me any problems before. It was broken too. And although the Candy Cane Lane widget is now showing the correct location and forecast, it's not updating current conditions at all.
Impulse shows I have the most recent released version of DesktopX. I'm running on XP and have made absolutely no changes to my computer recently excepted for updating my anti-virus database. I use Avast anti-virus and have Ad-Aware and Spybot as anti-spyware programs. The Candy Cane Lane Widget was working fine this morning, had been working fine all week, then all of a sudden it broke when I booted up the computer after work, and like I said, it seems as if a lot of other widgets broke at the same time.
Any ideas? I love my weather widgets and would hate to have to give them up.
