How to restore widget display

Hello,

I've run into a problem with widget display. Two of them appear and two of them do not. They were displaying now suddenly they don't. How can I restore them. They're in the Startup Folder but they won't load.

Any help would be appreciated!

Try clearing the cache. First, you will have to close out all your widgets. Check the task manager if they aren't visible.

Then go to the following location and delete the DesktopX folder. (Location if for XP, Vista is slightly different)

C:\Documents and Settings\Big Dog\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock (This is a hidden folder you will have to change the Folder Options to allow it to display also change Big Dog to your user name)

This will cause all your gadgets and widgets to return to default settings. No retry them they should work again.

Thanks BigDog...That worked for three of them. But the "Steel ToDo" still won't load. It always did before. I think I messed something up when I accidently changed the "Systray" to "None." That's when it went down the memory hole. And, I don't know how to fix it. I've tried eveything to get it to load but it won't...Nuts!...Gareth

Try deleting it and redownloading it. Make sure you can redownload it first though before you delete it.

try switching to builder mode, right click systray icon, list objects, see if it's there (or if you use the helper run Object Navigator)

if it's an object or widget, it should be there - check the x,y make sure it's not off screen = if it is set the numbers to somewhere on you screen you can find it

you can also right click on it in navigator and go to properties to check the x,y and transparency

When you try to run it does it show in windows task manager? It should.

If not or if you want to try an easy fix my reply #3 might solve it.

What Bichur suggests could also fix it for you if you have DesktopX Builder and import it as a widget and it isn't corrupted. You would also have to resave it by exporting it correctly. If you haven't done these things before try what I said in Reply #3 first.

Just make sure you can redownload it first before you delete it.

I have a similar problem. I use the great SD desktop in Windows XP for WindowBlinds, and use a couple SD widgets. One of the SD clock widgets I can run and shows the proper time, etc. The SD clock 3.01 for windows xp was running fine, very fine, but now shows an system up time of 1:42:?? and a time of 10:23:?? and is locked there, even though another SD mini clock can be run and show properly. I tried reinstalling from the original archive... buy why after working for awhile would it just STOP? Not at a reboot (system up time shows 1:42:??) but just out of the blue?

EDIT: Nevermind, clearing that cache mentioned above for this clock fixed it for some reason. Thanks.
