Why are they playing Christmas songs NOW???

Thanksgiving hasn't even come and gone yet and I am hearing Christmas music all over the place. Not just one song out of maybe 10 or 20, but every song - back to back - is Christmas songs.
Its just a little annouying.

Maybe I'm being a grinch, but I like it when the holiday approaches and hearing Christmas type stuff but after Thanksgiving.

Maybe a few days before is sort of ok... but it is still annouying.

Holly Jolly Christmas is just a little too soon.

I was gobsmacked 6 weeks ago...a local store was already decked out with Chrissy paraphenalia.

And the more commercial it gets, the earlier it will come out....in years to come it'll be around June or July.

I was quite the opposite as a kid....Christmas was the only time I saw cake....you know, chuck a few candles on....

as i sit here in my livingroom with lights on the plant in front of my desk and the little vilage is glowing on top of the entertainment center while tigger and the snowman, sitting ready to play thier joyful christmas ditties, are being looked over by the halloween/thanksgiving scarecrow. all i can say is...

its futile to resist...

complaining won't work...

some people just like to do thier decorating early so they can get it over with.

some stores want to have things set up so the "black friday" shoppers can lay thier plans...

do the silly culprits care if they have ruind the whole compleat holiday season for some of us?

do they even think about the ones that do not see things like they do?

as i watched my wife pick out a costume for halloween and noticed she was humming jingelbells it became clear that these people have an illness. they are sick with a desease of the hollyday spirite and, that spirit, is posessed, by a corruption of greed, some need more money, some need more happiness. what we need is a way to correct the wrong that has aflicted them.

i have thought about this but i have no answer for this question. any help that can be given would be seen with a greatful heart
these are the things that put the nick in my blade...

...I don't get having a christmas tree up before thanksgiving...

They got those things they hang over the street on some areas where i live. Had them up since freakin Early November.

I wonder if the holiday season will soon become part of Holloween?

Think about it. Holloween is so close to Thanksgiving and with Black Friday, Christmas and New Years... its just one big holiday bash.



I now call it HollowThanksChristNewYear.

How is this for creepy. 2 years ago I was being harrassed by the IRS at Xmas time. Since then Xmas music has a eerie haunting feel to it now. Xmas music now feels like halloween music to me.

I like Christmas. It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Side note. I also like this blind that I'm using called JosephsArt. I changed the color to orange in Windowblinds, so right now I'm typing orange letters onto an extremely dark gray background. It's awesome!!!

Back to Christmas. I heard the bells on Christmas day, their old familiar carols played, and wild and sweet the words repeat of "Peace on Earth, Good will toward men"

Then singing, ringing, more loud and deep. God is not dead nor does He sleep. The wrong shall fail, the right prevail for Peace on earth, Good will to men.



I like Christmas. All year long.

Starkers: you got me there. My childhood Christmas was always a good time of year, ESPECIALLY with my birthday days before Thanksgiving.

Since I lived in Germany, the celebrations started more near Halloween, which is a little different from here in the states. They begin in October, with the world reknowned "Oktoberfest". During October, the Germans celebrated some 6 other special days, which I partook of living in a small burg. Of course, to the American in Germany it seems like Oktoberfest goes from October to February...

So, then there's Halloween, which is celebrated. Then there's Erntdankfest, the German "Thanksgiving Day", in November. Fasching also began in November (the 11th day, 11th hour, 11th minute). Grand parades seem to be the norm. The women get a special day during the Fasching celebrations, Weiberfastnacht, which they get to do what the heck ever they want with no consequences. Of course, there's my B-day...not all germans celebrated with me, however.

December comes along, pretty quickly with all this celebrating gooing on, and the Twelfth Night, which is when St. Peter and his minions go about and make sure the villages' children are behaving, and Kris Kringle does his visiting.

Weinnachten comes around and we all exchange our gifts...soon thereafter its January 1st. I don't know of a country that does not celebrate a new year with as much fervor as the Deutchlander.

So the whole winter season is jam packed with celebration. Here in the states, makes me miss that time I lived in Germany, my birthdays seemed to fit in with the rest of the seasonal holidays.

It amazes me how old some of the songs are. This one originated almost 1000 years ago (in Latin, 12th century) and the music is almost as old - 13th century.

I was in a barber shop about two and a half weeks ago, it was a 70 degree day and they had on a local radio station which had already started playing Christmas music 24/7!

Me too... I just don't like pretending that Christmas all year long means play the XMAS songs 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and then 3 weeks after New Years Day...

We celebrate the Winter Solstice. Winter Solstice was overlaid with Christmas, and the observance of Christmas spread throughout the globe like a plague. Commercialisim and greed. The commercial where they urge you to buy your spouse a Lexus.

If I mention that 46ish years ago......

...was 12ish then. All most everything was done on Christmas Eve. Shopped on Eve. Yes, shopped (it didn't take a month of constant shopping) Wrapped the presents on Eve. Put up the tree and decorated on Eve. Thought the tree was soooo magical and was allowed to sleep on the sofa by the tree on Eve. Presents consisted of 1 main present and the other was always new underwear. Have to giggle when I think of it. You always knew there would be underwear. I tell you that it meant much more then. Kept the tree up until King's day and then down it came. As was said before, no sense fighting it. It's the sign of the times. Commercial driven. Glad I have the memories.
