ok, how do you name a webpage window on opening?

I am trying to find a way, simply, to have a window name itself when it loads. For example, the home page, I want the home page to name itself, say "homepage" so that when the user opens a second window, the user can control the original window the pop-up window came from.

Is that an on load function? Is that a javascript or just regular html code.

anybody got a solution?

Phillip I don't think that there is any software to do this.

Joe, in javascript you can refer the window that opened the popup as "opener".

Ex: window.opener.close() would close the original window.

I'm sure theres a way to do this, since I think I've done it, but I cant remember how!

oh no, not the pop-up window being named, I mean the name of the home page.

For example, Wincustomize has it set such that if you click on a nickname, a new window appears... but THIS IS what I want:

When you click on "Click to View Author's Skins", the main window goes to the skinners uploads.

Its like the window itself has a name to refer back to.

When I refer to the main window, I mean it is th window you are already in and been browsing through before you got to WinCustomize. But once you get to Wincustomize, now the window gets a name somehow.



Its like the pop-up window controls the window the user clicked from (main window).
Any ideas?

That is what paxx is saying. The pop-up window refers to the main window that opened it as "opener".

wait, I thought of a better way to explain this.

{Original Window}

[pop-up window] from {Original Window}

[clicks in the pop-up window] control what is viewed in {the original window}



I know I saw it done somewhere... base target maybe? "window name" using javascript? Name self something???
