Theme Manager 2.10.026 and Trojan Virus

I know that this is not a tech support board, however, with the number of OD users reading these, I thought I might get some help/insight. I recently installed Theme Manager v. 2.10.026 via Stardock Central. I am an object desktop subscriber. Today, my antivirus software (Avast) popped up a warning that there was a "Win 32: Trojano-279 [Trj] virus found in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\Theme Manager\ThemeMgr.exe" Has anyone else experienced this warning? Is there a virus? Thanks in advance for any help. For now, I have uninstalled Theme Manager and deleted all files in that directory. I will be running full virus scan and pest patrol to see if there is anything else. I normally have a "very clean" system here.

i think you have infected when you have downloaded the file ,test with other method ,look in the website of stardock and redownload theme manager directly !!!

but that is possible you have infected after the install by other exe(trojan) in your computeur !!!

I think your anti virus program Avast gives a false warning.

None of other known anti virus programs (Norton and so on) give a warning.

Check the file with a online virus scanner. If it is oke then, ignore the message of Avast.

I reviewed all newsgroup entries from the stardock news servers and found nothing there.

Avast plays at trying to identify Virus/Worm/Trojans that are unknown (Bloodhound in Notron AntiVirus: but theirs works).

Personally I think it is less than worthy for them to throw a scare in people which lends to them claiming a product is or
has a Virus or a Trojan in it because Avat's can't get it right...

mmm, I do want to point out that over all I think Avast is as good as the other AV applications on the market today.

but then again claiming something is or has a Trojan and applying a VSP number to it without any information substantiating that claim...

If you can't find any messages about it in the newsgroups, then you did something wrong with your newsreader.

What newsgroup, in particular, are you reading that post information about the topic? I will gladly navigate there to read it myself. Perhaps I am not looking in the appropriate section.

IPlural - thanks for that info. I was not aware that Avast could have problems in that regard.

I did find something posted in the Stardock newsgroup today, however, it was posted after my post here. Still, though, no official word from Stardock. I will wait for a reply to the email I sent to customer service.

It's a false positive. I've emailed Avast, but no word back from them yet.

It's been scanned with Norton, McAfee, TrendMicro, EzTrust, and something else I can't recall right now. And it hasn't been updated in months, so its not like it "just" changed.

Thanks Kris,

I only just installed Theme Manager - took it off just as quick, since it did generate a virus message with Avast. I'll probably wait a while before re-installing. Don't really need theme manager, just wanted to play around with it since the Alienware suite came out. I just manually seperated the components from the alienware suite and installed them without using theme manager.
