For kicks I thought it might be fun to see how much different sites appreciate the artists who make stuff in the form of comments on a skin.
So I went to the WindowBlinds sections here, the visual style section on dA, and the vs section on ThemeXP.
Here's what I found by averaging 10 randomly selected, reasonably new skins in terms of Downloads per comment given:
WinCustomize: 107 downloads per comment (low: 63, high:151)
DeviantArt: 143 downloads per comment (low: 67, high:237)
ThemeXP: 16,538 "downloads" per comment (low 488, high:74,269)
WinCustomize and DeviantArt are basically the same. ThemeXP's numbers are so out of wack that either the people who download stuff either take the skinners incredibly for granted or the download counts are totally out of whack.
I think the download stats are more out of whack. I saw the same skin on themexp have 100X as many "downloads" as it does on DeviantArt yet have fewer comments. That doesn't make sense.
What is clear is that DeviantArt and WinCustomize users should be proud. Someone has the courtesy to send a comment, usually a positive one, to the author evern 100 or so downloads.
