I wouldn't say that Charlie Watts was the best drummer in the world, but he sure as heck was up there with a long list of great drummers. Moreover, he was considered the gentleman drummer and was well respected among the rock fraternity. While the other 'Stones' got into drugs and alcohol during their wild days, Charlie just got on with the job in a professional and distinguished way, leaving those wild ways to the others.
Another thing that's also impressive, Charlie was married the same woman from 1963 until his passing. Not a lot of rock stars can boast that feat or even close. BTW, I saw Charlie and the Stones at Hyde Park London in July '69. Sadly, Brian Jones died two days earlier, after drowning in his pool.
Yup, the world became a lesser place for your passing, Charlie, condolences to your family and friends... to the other 'Stones', who surely miss your presence
