Weird problem with Rainlendar - solved Now about SMX

No ini file in folder

Hopefully Rainy problem is solved, for the most part any way. Now I need to solve why there's no ini file in my new SMX folder. Again...any ideas?

this is not a problem with Rainlendar, but a user acting as if he would be on Windows 95

 

Rainlendar skins other than the default skins should not be in %programfiles(x86)%

they should be in %homepath%/.rainlendar2/skins

 

it's just Windows trying to protecting itself. there are ways to circumvent this, but with your history of regulary occuring malware infections please don't even think about that. (i am serious)

I don't do Rainlendar2, I do the older version because the .ini's are easier to edit. It lives in Program Files (x86) - Rainlendar and please leave past history out of it! I asked for help nothing more.

Ross this is the way I do it and never had a problem. Maybe you are doing it this way. I have Explorer open with the rainy folder open and .ini open on the desktop. On the left side x86 I have the rainlendar program open seeing the folder of my skin. After I make a change to the .ini file and click save it saves it back to my folder. Now I in my folder click copy and go to the program folder and click paste. I have had your problem with the actual ini file open from the rainlendar program folder and trying to save it. 

Just for note. I do actually use the Rainlendar2 program and the old ini files work just fine. It is in my x86 folder.

Did that and the normal version worked as it should, the way I always do it. However on the horizontal version the .ini won't save at all despite saving it to documents then pasting it back in the folder. I make changes to put the buttons where they belong and I click save but it doesn't.

get the current version of Rainlendar.

put the skins in the supposed folder.

and you'll never have to do such ridiculous copying/pasting stuff again.

 

it really is that simple.

Ok fine, I'll do that. Now on a different note. Sysmetrix usually won't run without an .ini in the folder yet it does and it will not export to the folder at all. Again, only with this iteration called Kopper. Docks and tiles work fine. I won't be able to upload the SMX because it won't install without the ini. Yet it still loads and works. I wonder what kind of silliness I'll run into with the Xion.

I too had been using the old version of Rainlendar, because I like the old ini files. After reading Dave's post, I downloaded Rainlendar2 and added one of my skins to the skins folder. I brought up the ini file and tried making a change, and I got an access denied also. I went and made changes to the permissions giving full access and then tried saving again. It took my changes with no problem then.

Got the current version of Rainlendar2. Kopper rainy works but two function don't, Edit Skin and Config. No biggie though. Any ideas on how I can correct the SMX?
