You can get your Vista cursor back by going to Control Panel/Personalization and Appearance/Mouse Pointers/Mouse Properties.Select "use default" and hit apply. CFX (free version) gave me fits as well,I reinstalled it a total of 12 times in less than a year. The current version has been working fine ,however. You may have a bad cursor file, usually an older one, maybe not.
I made multiple posts about it,but this is what it took each time to reinstall it in working condition.I've had it freeze up immediately on launch several times after install until I followed these steps below:
1:Back up any cursor themes you want to save and apply the default Vista cursor
2:Download Revo Uninstaller LINK
Use Revo on moderate to uninstall CFX(Don't use add/remove programs or Impulse) Let it scan for leftover registry entries and folders.( and no,CCleaner wont do to clean out the mess)
3:Delete anything it finds shown in bold print only. It will find a lot of leftovers, which is what is borking the reinstall, then reboot your computer.
4:Reinstall CFX and try the included cursors. If the control panel does not freeze up,add your saved cursors one at a time.Switch cursors back and forth several times before adding another one. If you find one that locks up the panel, delete it.
5: E-mail support and refer to this thread.I feel the built-in uninstaller needs to do a better job,but what the hey,it's free.
6:If it happens again in the future, lather, rinse, and repeat until it behaves itself.
Sounds like a lot,but really it's easy and CFX is such an awesome program and the cursors so nice,it was worth it for me. I hope it straightens itself out for you, mine has only crashed once since the new version came out.
Good Luck with it.
PM me if you have any ???
