Themes and Dreamscapes not working at all???

Hello everyone, I am a new user and just purchased the object desktop premium sweet. I was trying to apply some of the themes that came with bjectdesktop, specifically 'think green' and 'quest' just to see how it all works. But the themes do not load correctly or completly. As you can see in the screen shots, when i try to apply a theme, the background loads and some of the gadgits try to but my taskbar reverts to the most basic of windows graphics and the icons do not load. Dreamscapes does not work as well. I double click, right click, ect. to activate a selected dreamscapes icon to apply and nothing happens. So yeah, so far nothing works except tweak vista.

I have check all my drivers and everythings says it is the most up to date and working properly. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, still no luck.

I am running windows vista 32 bit, nvidia display drivers on an hp pavilion notebook, with 2gigs of ram.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you running Windowblinds and MyColors?

can you post the system info for either/or?

Run you r Windows experience score and try post that info here too

I am running windowblinds and mycolors (installed the objectdesktop premium suite and got all the updates from impulse).

My windows experience score is a 3 (most all scores are 4 and 5, except my graphics which is 3).

I am not sure what you mean by posting system info for windowblinds or my colors. do you mean process info..like how much memory used? ect?

If you open the MyColors or WB applications you can click on System Info (in WB) and Settings | View system Info (in MyColors).

Post both to this thread.

I was having trouble using Dreamscapes too and found in a post in a forum that I had to turn on the Desktop Window Manager in the Management Console. It's a pain in the butt, but it works most of the time. Of course I usually have to do it each time my computer boots, but at least I can get it to run once it is started. I'm sorry I can't help with the other issues, but perhaps this will help.

Thanks for your responses, it seems this issue was related to another issue I was having which I managed to figure out how to fix. For me, it was a matter of running Impulse as Admin (instead of left clicking impulse icon) the first time to install desckapes, windows blinds ect from Impulse. Now evertyhing works perfectly.

(Not running impulse for the first time as admin...eventhough my user account is admin privliged, resulted in the apps saying they where downloading but they were not downloaded the main operating .dll files which meant i could see the deskscapes wallpapers but not apply them!)

PS. I'm a fan of impulse..it was a rough start but now that everything works as it should, i like the program...although as a new user i never used sdc

With Vista you can be an admin but not be running as the Admin. For lack of a better term I will call it the AdminAdmin

For instance you will also have this problem if you had UAC running when you installed Impulse. You told it to allow it, then (and I am paraphrasing here) UAC performed the admin rights to allow it. You simply told UAC it could. If you then turned it off again uninstalling Impulse wasn't allowed becuase you didn't do it with the same admin privilages...... anyway you can see where this is all headed. Vista has a few rules to iron out when it comes to admin vs AdminAdmin rights still.

Anyone here can explain how loose a description of the problem I have presented here, but it at least highlights that there are big things that Impulse has to overcome in the user experiance as it shares the growing pains of Vista simultainously.
