Well it's going on four days now since I've posted my program, Rumshot, on BetaNews' website FileForum. While Kapsules was in it's hayday, I would always post it on FileForum and it would usually take about a day to get looked at. Stardock Apps don't even take that long to get approved, and rightly so
However, for someone trying to promote a piddly little app and get the word out, FileForum is frustrating the crud out of me. Even VersionTracker.com, which is primarily for Mac applications, even managed to get Rumshot approved in under two hours. Not too shabby.
Kapsules has also gone into a stagnant period, where I just dont have the time to develop. Couple an aging, obsolete build full of bugs with a server attack and I decided to take the old version and the website offline. So in line with that I submitted a request for removal from BetaNews' FileForum site. The result? An email saying my request for modification of Kapsules on FileForum was denied. Request for Modification?? Wait a second, I didnt request to modify it. I wanted it gone. Period. It seems you cant even remove an app from FileForum, let alone get a new one approved.
The moderation, adminstration or what-have-you has just gone downhill in the last two years of using that website, and I'm pretty fed up.
So what other alternatives are there? Where do people visit for Freeware and the like anymore? Are there any websites like FileForum that exist for beta software without the headache?
