Any idea why Corel Draw would suddenly stop working?

Corel Draw will not appear on my screen. It shows up in task manager as running but it does not show up on the desktop nor in the taskbar. I tried repairing the installation first, that did nothing, then tried uninstalling and reinstalling, then tried the same thing with removing all the registry entries.

I recently installed all the latest Windows updates so I uninstalled all of those, no luck.

I turned off all the Stardock stuff that was running, that didn't help.

Photoshop and Illustrator load okay, just Corel Draw refuses to show itself. This is really frustrating.

hmmm... wonder what happened to the edit I did.

This line "It shows up in task manager as running but it does not show up." should read

It shows up in task manager but not on the desktop nor in the taskbar.

Seems I saw a thread that attributed this to Iconpackger 3.something
I'll try a search and see if I can come up with the thread.

Corel is not working!! damn... I need to do something in it.

any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't been able to track down the thread where I saw Corel Draw and PaintShop having the same problem. The thread name must not have contained either Program.
If I remember right I think Jafo may have been one of the people suffering from the same problem. However, since I turned forty a few years back my memory's not what it used to be.

Start/ Run: regsvr32 /u "C:\program files\stardock\object desktop\iconpackager\iprepair.dll" and reboot.

If you have Enhanced Dialog installed, un-install it.

Dave...yes do as yrag suggests....it seems some of the installs become problematic....

THANK YOU!!!  I uninstalled IP3 and Corel worked. I just tried your reg hack yrag and it said the module could not be found so I guess the uninstall got rid of it.

I had a major problem yesterday when I updated all my Stardock apps and it loaded Enhanced Dialog. I almost did a format and reinstall for that one. In fact, I almost did today too. I just lost 4 hours trying to get CorelDraw to work, I wish I had thought of asking here first.

I'm glad it's working now, even if all my icons look ugly. I need to get some work done and then I'll come back and see if there's a way to get my icons changed again...

Thanks for your help, everyone! the links were extremely helpful, I read all those threads and I tryuly appreciate your assistance! it worked!

David- you can do the IP3 install and then run regsvr32 /u and it will work fine.....

btw - it's kind of sad that I had a much nicer looking desktop and no problems with my computer before coming back here and updating my OD apps. Now I've uninstalled everything and I'm wishing I could get my old versions back...

the only thing left on my desktop is a wallpaper and my Cursor... I miss WB and all the other stuff!

but first I need to get some work done.

Aha! Thanks so much for posting this question David. I've been battling the same problem for the past week or so. Should have checked here sooner I was almost to the point of reinstalling XP.

I was having numerous issues yesterday whilst fiddling with Icons, and SkinStudio. Tried to de-stardock my system in anticipation of reinstalling everything. When I tried uninstalling SDC the system just hung.
My fingers became possesed by the BSOD spirit of Christmas past and the next thing you know they placed the itsy-bitsy teenie weenie XP CD into my drive and whacked the reset button.
It's all a blur from there as the last thing I saw before the droolfest and frothing had reached its maximum destructive force was "Now formatting....".

Guess I will head home tonight, grab the blessed brown bottles of holy water with the gold emblems, ensure that I have thourougly sampled the contents of all 24 bottles, and thus complete the dreaded ritual.
But hey... it's been nearly a year I think since I played this game..

I assume you killed the SDMCP.exe process when it hung up........

It wasn't running in the first place. The uninstall process tries to shutdown sdmcp.exe. Since it wasn't running it just hung there. Stuff like that just drives me nuts.
