On the subject of Doom and Gloom.
We, as humans, just need to keep an eye on the world's militaries to make sure AI is kept in check. In this particular case, super-bugs vs. antibiotics is one of the world's greatest challenges for the future of humanity. If AI can solve this problem, it will save countless number of lives, as this problem is only going to get worse over time. And what about the next pandemic?
I totally understand the fear of AI, but with the knowledge of what can - and probably will - go wrong, I believe we can keep it from going too far. The options available to humans without AI, trying to save our planet, and all of humanity, are so limited we are doomed anyway. AI is in it's infancy, and if billions of dollars continue to be invested, it could be our only salvation.
...Dave was, in the end, able to shut HAL down, after all!
