I have seen and been watching both shows you mention here.  FRINGE I find enjoyable, not so much for the story, but Walter.  He just really cracks me up sometimes.  Overall the main storyline is interesting, and it keeps my curiosity piqued.

FlashForward is also enjoyable, although it does seem to be rather slow moving sometimes. There were a couple of "WHa...?" moments where I was completely surprised and shocked.

I like Episodic X-Files more than I liked continuing plot X-files..

I don't watch Fringe, but I like FlashForward (for the most part).

I agree that it can be slow at times, and I censored one episode from my 13 year old daughter because of the lesbian content.

I wonder why these new shows, like FF and SGU, seem to find it really necessary to include that crap. SGU will never be a show that I can watch with my daughter, simply because of all the random sex between whomever for whatever reason. And because of the general crappiness of the show, I will not be watching it anymore anyway.

The best series' never need a strong (or in these cases, controversial and/or purely gratuitous) sexual content. They are good because of the storyline and the acting - not because they are showing people making out.

In the Sci-Fi genre -  Bab5, Star Trek, The Prisoner (old, not new), Twilight Zone (old...), Firefly, X-Files... etc. They stood firm without resorting to PC games of making 'everyone' happy with the sexual preferences of every deviant group.

Personally, I find it sickening that I can not enjoy a prime-time show with my daughter without first recording and previewing it for inappropriate sexual content.

This is exactly my feeling about the show so far. I find the background plot quite interesting, the episodes are sometimes bit shit though. Few of them (out of the eight i saw) were fine, the rest just felt like some kind of filler. I understand that after Lost they wanted to create show you don´t need to watch every episode to be in the picture. The problem with Lost wasn´t IMO its continuous storyline, but the fact, they kept adding new and new questions and mysteries without actually having idea about answers to them. At least i felt about it this way and about BSG too....

After watching Prison Break, first season of Heroes and last season of BSG i just want  every show be like them - so after the one episode´s end i couldn´t wait another to begin...this i think is the sign of good writing.

Your origin doesnt really matter to me, but your attiude is far more common in the US than in Europe. So it was a guesstimation from my side. You consider same-sex pleasure evil (and unproductive - does that mean no children?) and I say let people do what they want sexwise. I guess there isnt much to discuss here, cause neither will change views.

So you would let paedophiles do "what they want sexwise?"  I hope not....

i watch them only for lack of anything else to watch. but theyre both mindbogglingly boring.

lost was much better, it at least had good character building and the interaction was interesting. in fringe and flashforward, there really isnt anything to watch..the fact that i do gives testimony to how bored i am at times : )

I really should be going to work, but this thread has gotten my tail feathers in a bunch.

I came here to bash Fringe for being overly simplistic. I was a bit too young to get into the X-Files, but of what I've seen I enjoy it much more. Fringe is X-Files "lite." As for Flash Forward, I'm still undecided. I like it, but as mentioned earlier, sometimes it does move far too slowly.

Now that I've achieved what I had come in here for, let me move on to what really matters: Gay bashing really has no place here. At all. It stirs up a whole pot of ill-will on every side. At best it will inspire feelings of pity from any sort of tolerant, level-headed crowd (which these boards seem to be), and at worst ostricism and moderator intervention. Why don't we just snuff this now and slowly walk away while we still have our dignity?

Ugg, Flash Forward is getting old REAL fast. The latest episode made me kringe over it's unoriginality.

Haven't seen Fringe. Might give that a try.

Fringe was a cheap shot at producing another X-Files like mystery series. Boooooooooooring...!!!

Flashforward on the other hand was really nice. Granted, it had some weaknesses. But it certainly would have deserved one or two more seasons.  *rollseyes*
