Groupy 2 – How to Hide the Tab Bar for Single Windows Without Preventing Grouping?

I'm trying to configure Groupy 2 so that its tab bar only appears when two or more windows are grouped together - not when there's just a single window that's grouped to nothing. When only one window is open, I don't want Groupy to display its tab bar, since it serves no purpose and unnecessarily takes up screen space.

For example, when I have a single Microsoft Word document open, Groupy displays a tab bar above Word's title bar (see attached screenshot). I'd like that bar to remain hidden until I actually group that Word window with another window, at which point the Groupy tab bar should automatically appear. See screenshot below (showing only one single window, not grouped with anything, yet the Groupy tab still appears as if it is grouped with something.
Just a single window ungrouped to anything. Yet, the Groupy tab appears as if there is a group (when there isn't).

Here's what I've tried:

  1. "Do not paint a tab when only one tab exists for the group": Enabled this setting, but the tab bar still appeared above individual Word windows.

  2. "Always show tabs for this type of window": Unchecking this successfully hid the tab bar for Word, but it also prevented me from grouping Word windows together. I also haven't been able to reverse this setting now that the tab is hidden.

What I'm trying to accomplish is straightforward:

  • One window: No Groupy tab bar whatsoever.

  • Two or more grouped windows: Groupy's tab bar automatically appears, allowing me to switch between the grouped windows.

  • Back to one window: The Groupy tab bar automatically disappears again.

Is this possible in Groupy 2? If so, what do I need to do?

Also, how can I reset the application-specific setting I changed for Microsoft Word so that Groupy's normal grouping functionality is restored?
