Can this be done

Hi

Is there any way of creating a button that would enable me to see the notification area icons.

Or one that can be asigned to one thing ie. network

Don't think so. Notification area icons (or the system tray) is no longer supported in DesktopX.

If you want to create a shortcut to Network see HERE or HERE for how to create shortcuts.

sViz is correct, unless you are running XP, in which case I believe there is still systray support. I will test this shortly.

There is, however, the ability to make a button to show open tasks.

Well, I guess I am wrong. The taskbar support works for XP, I don't seem to have a systray plugin.

That's what I get for thinking I could second guess sViz, she is very knowledgeable when it comes to DX.

Howdy Jim. There was an old post that claimed to be able to import old system tray objects, but I don't think it worked for me, and I can't find that post.

Well, I remember that DX once supported systray in XP, I've used it.  I'm sure if any old timer out there still had the plugin, or whatever, it'd still work on XP. There were some Gef DXes that used it.

At first it would work in Vista. But like most  things in Dx it quit working and hasn't worked for a long time.

Yes it worked quit well in XP. You know back when Stardock cared if Dx worked or not

Just a fan and user, but I really wish that Stardock would finally pick up the pieces, and put them together. It's a bit sad.

When you do this can you click on a task an have control over it.

Create a new object. Under the general tab, object type, click change.

On the dropdown menu click Taskbar. Set the settings and save. You have a bar that shows open tasks.

I assume you could skin it too. I haven't actually used it, because I use the windows taskbar. But it works on Win 7 because I just made one...lol.

The systray does still work in XP. I have a dx object running on my XP rig now. It does still work!!!

Just not on Vista or 7.  [e digicons]:'([/e]
