I think that if the Watch feature worked as intended, that would solve the problem you have mentioned, SGT. I mean the Watch a person for skins.

Before watch was disabled, it didn't work ... at all. If I selected a person to watch for skins, I would get approx. a dozen of their skins on my watch page (and not necessarily their most recent) and it wouldn't update if they released something new. The same 10 or 12 skins would still be listed and the only emails I got about notification of a new posting by someone on my watch list were test notifications.

Also if I selected a single item/skin of someone on my watch list to remove it from the list ... meaning I had viewed it already and no longer needed it on the list ... it would remove that person entirely from my list and I would have to re add them. Shouldn't that just remove that single item that's checked and not everything?


If all these were/are fixed when the watch list is re-enabled, it would be a great way to keep updated when someone uploaded a new skin ... assuming uploads that went to their PP triggered a notice the same as an upload going into the main gallery would .. or should. Granted it wouldn't cover everyone's PP but at least you could add whomever you wanted to your watch list.

I suppose it's up to the artists to promote their work that gets hidden on their PP. You can also keep an eye on the personal page elite thread (Link).

I for one have given up on submitting wallpapers, because the constant disappointment depresses me.....

Bookmarked ... watchlist is still borked ... just tried to remove one item; it removed everything by that artist and the artist from my skins watchlist   

I am truly amazed at the long time members here that have not set up their personal pages properly. I don't know if it is apathy or lack of knowledge that prevails but there are so many that I would like to browse their gallery or add to favorite but can't because their personal page isn't set up. It certainly would help to keep track of folks if the watch list functioned correctly. (

I hadn't thought about it either until you made this post! The only problem with keeping stuff on your personal pages though is that casual visitors won't get to see our stuff since a lot of people don't know they exist...no real links on the site for them. But hopefully word will get around.

I've always have links to my personal page/gallery on my uploads HG. I just decided the OD library isn't supporting dock backgrounds...go figure...so I'm just moving them to my personal page...they aren't being seen in the library anyway...so the icon/pngs can have it. Because when I think ObjectDock...I think icon/pngs!

I was just hanging out online the other day and an old friend of mine shows up. [no names...]
Well he is an old time favorite artist of mine and does some of the best artwork I've ever seen.
So I ask what he has been doing and he shows me his personl gallery. Thus I wondered " what the hell is going on with this here? Why is your work being sent to your personal gallery I asked? He says well it was rejected from the regular gallery. I said you got to be kidding me!" All of his work is done completely with photoshop and to boot that he is a listed photoshop expert with Adobe. It blew me away when work as good as that was placed in the personal gallery where I did not even now it was there till he told me about it. That and being that there is so much other work I see on a regular basis in the regular galley. Which is none other than just photo manipulation or render through graphics engines. No true hard work with layers and tools in exact form with photoshop. [ Which I consider to be true works of art! ] Not to say there is not some there as with said artist like Vlad or Adni18. Many others also ... but my point was lost with this person as to why all of his new postings where being sent to his personal gallery. Oh and one more thing " He really did not care what happened here on WC anyway. Being that he was getting better results with art sites like Deviantart and the like. "

Myself here lately I've not been using much of the wallpaper placed in the regular gallery. Seems to be always the same artist with the same kind of stuff all the time. So I resort to using wallpaper from art sites like Inter Facelift and Stock Exchange. That or some that I have created here for myself and not posted anywhere at all.

But my true point is this here " Hell I hate to be missing some new artist I never heard of yet due to the fact his work is placed in a personal gallery.
My true idea is this " We always seem to be able to start up a new gallery in the main page if we have 20 or so postings there to be put up for others to see. Why can't we have a new postings library for the personal galleries. Where it allows for so much of just the new postings to be placed there as like links to those personal galleries with a said thumbnail shot and the like as would be in any other gallery. Thus as new stuff is posted the older postings are removed to make place for the new. It would only take about three pages for that maybe? [ unless someone like Webgizmos post a new gallery completely] oh man... But...
It is just an idea for some resolution to the problem of being able to see everything that is on this site at a glance without having to blunder around to links and pages with almost all the same stuff everyday. For seemingly there are some that are not posting because of it also and that really makes it bad.
I'm not going to compare sites or nothing either. But if you look at some of the other large art sites. They do have a new postings page and it usually links with a personal gallery. That really looks good and the members at the site really like it a lot also.

Then we have this thing as what is called in this forum as " Lets blame it on the moderator! " Oh man give me a break... These guys do this stuff for free service to the site for everyone. They have a really hard job too doing this. They get the blame and as I see it the flames in doing so. Ya right - lets see how good anyone else would be at it. They would do the same or worse. More likely even worse.
The Mods do their very best I know. But could we not give them some tools? Like maybe a community effort to rate personal galleries. That may have an artwork that would be nice to have placed or lets change that word to " presented " into the regular gallery. Thus after said community ratings said artwork is asked by moderator to be placed in the regular gallery by sending notice to said artist.
" Heck - I'd like to get one of those notices!"
So then you got a place where everyone can see or find what is being posted to whoevers gallery and if it is any good. Plus in the same place you have a rating for if it is good enough for the regular gallery. But also that leaves it to where we as the community works together with our moderators to help them pick out what everyone sees as being a good work of art. The community helps it's moderators work toward having the better artwork for the better art site. ...

Well there it is I broke the ice a bit. Next time I'll get a bigger hammer out and see if I can get the glacier to move some. But I hope none of this steps on anyones toes too hard. If so - hey sorry man... just my really so called idea though to help find away to fix this thing better. Better than having someone I know of try and get away from other hard work he is doing to address the other problems with stuff not working on the site. But he will get things done no matter I'm sure.
Just really hope this happens. It could make this a really good place where we get to see everything at a glance and not have to spend all my time figuring where and who to search for new stuff all the time.

The general opinion has been: keep the wallpaper gallery high quality by being strict about what gets put into the main gallery. This is a good practice, which I support. But as I've seen wallpapers with a 1 and 2 star rating in the main gallery lately , I start to wonder...

We've been discussing better ways to handle content moderation & the presentation of content to users for the next major site update.  We want to place much more control in the hands of the individual users as to what content they see on their screens.  Better integration of the Personal Pages with the rest of the site, filter settings, a change to how we moderate and separate out content have all been discussed.

It's just not a quick fix or addition to the site though, and when we do it, we want to make sure we do it right.  There's nothing to gain with a half-assed implementation.

As for watchlists, those are coming back, we've said that a few times before.  It's on the list of features to reenable in the near future. 

Zubaz I have always had mine set for all ratings. Which is what I like to see. I'm not really much into the ratings thingy. But into what I can find and how do I find it.[?]



Thank you Zoomba for helping to insure that these features are in the works. We all need them and would love to see everything work as it should. Plus I completely understand it is no quick fix either.



I completely agree Zubaz - My main reason for doing this is to have a bit of community involvement for the rating system of a sort. Plus to try and give our moderators the tools to help them see what other people here at the site may want also.
I completely understand it may be a bit more than what we may be able to do at this site. Being the way the system is setup to run as it is. But as I wrote " just another idea only "...
I'm just doing something here to try to help find an answer to things in some simple way. I do not want it to get to far fetched or carried away with the wrong thing either. If we can all try to help out with something then maybe there is an answer to all of this that is within reach. Meaning that it is cost effective and not too much of a problem to accomplish. All these things we all completely understand and do not take me wrong by starting this thread to raise the wrong ideas.
My complete interest in all of this is to help myself and others see what is here at this site for them. Plus to aid the people resposible for keeping this site in tune. Meaning moderators and all that are involved to keep it in a working order. [ or something like that anyway?...]

But whatever you guys come up with that works I'm game. But ya there are always gona be those that do not agree. We can only try to change or help things change to see if we can get a better result. If and I say "If" there is a way to do so effectively.

Thank you both Zubaz and Zoomba for your help in this idea. I just hope it goes some place and has a good result. Of whatever that maybe - for that is saying things are going to be better no matter here in the short term future.
