Widget issues

New user: I recently installed Object Desktop on my new install of Windows 8.1 on a new SSD. When I log in, I see 3 widgets -- clock, weather (accuweather?) and rss feeds (stardock?). Anyway, the following issues:

1. Weather widget never connects and shows weather for any zip code entered.

2. cannot seem to size or make the widgets larger/easier to read.

Questions:

1. How to I configure Object Desktop to enable/disable or add/remove widgets?

2 How to determine which widgets come with the different desktops that can be deployed with DeskScapes/Window Blinds? I am not sure which of these added the widgets in the first place.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

! - Weather widget has been discontinued - remove

2 - right click on dock to settings/view/magnification and check

click on 2nd settings and click on advanced tweaks for more options

3 - drag and drop to add or remove - to remove drag off click on remove .

Not sure what you are referring to: what to i right click on? I tried Fences , nothing there; tried right click on on the widget, only choices are close/about/autorun...

I thought you were talking about Object Dock ?

Object Dock or Object Desktop ..

Maybe explain in better detail your issue

and show us a screenshot , Thanks .

Widgets are a DesktopX thing. You need DesktopX to run them, and it isn't available anymore.

Guessing maybe you mean gadgets? They run on any machine.

The weather doesn't work anymore. A scant few of the newer ones do, but that is it.

I guess they are Gadgets (see image below). If right click on each you get the details. I have:

Aero Midnight RSS Reader Version 1.0
Aero Midnight Weather Version 1.0
Aero Midnight Clock Version 1.0

All are by Stardock Design, Created with DesktopX Pro.

So How can I uninstall these? I don't recall installing anything like Aero Midnight. I have Fences 8, DeskScapes, IconPackager, and Start8 deployed in Object Desktop.

These look like windows sidebar gadgets. Somebody call me wrong but these are a different category from DesktopX.

Just my 2 cents.

Aero Midnight was a premium theme which was also made available for free to Object Desktop subscribers at a certain point in time. It included a WindowBlinds theme and those 3 gadgets.

If they're loading up on you at login and you just want to stop that, you should be able to right click on each gadget and uncheck "Autorun". If that doesn't do it you might look to be sure they're not referenced in your Startup folder.

As far as uninstalling the gadgets, there's really nothing to uninstall as they aren't "installed" software. There are just some files on your computer. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly where those went by default. I've still got the clock here but I've moved all that stuff around.

Well, kinda correct. It used to be that windows sidebar gadgets could be made with DesktopX Pro. I used to make a few.

That said, you are correct, they are sidebar gadgets.
