WAN functionality for Multiplicity?

Connection between computers on different networks

Does Multiplicity have WAN functionality.

I have a computer at home which is primary.

I have another computer at another home which I want to use as secondary.

Is this possible with Multiplicity?

I have the same situation sometimes with secondaries 700 miles away. It is not done directly in Multiplicity but is done using a virtual LAN. There are various LAN programs available - I use ZeroTier as it is free for personal use. Search online to find one that works for you.

That's a great idea.

I am currently using Synergy and manually had to edit its config file to put in my home machine's WAN address for the home machine.  Then, I set up port forwarding on the home machine's router to allow it.  It works with tolerable lag but I'd like to use something better that doesn't require a hack for WAN use.

I can probably figure out how to do this in Multiplicity but I'd rather not.

We do have a version of multiplicity that does have this functionality coming...it's not quite ready yet though and I dont have an ETA for a public build, yet.

Multiplicity can connect the two PCs over a VPN, but both need to be on the same VPN subnet and the connection has to be KVM. There is no direct internet or relay connection mode.

On the Primary, create a new KVM connection and enter the IP address shown for the Secondary on the VPN. The remote connection steps are here: Remotely connecting to Multiplicity Secondary PCs.
