Constant app activations needed

Insane number of times a month I have to reactive each app I use

from Stardock Forums

I searched the forums and couldn't find anything exactly like this. I run OD on three machines (two of the activations are on the same box... just different Windows 11 installs... one for work and one for personal and then the third is on my laptop that I don't use unless I'm traveling for work). None are used simultaneously.

80% of the time I'm only using the work desktop. All week I don't use anything else. I don't boot the personal partition and I don't use my laptop (other than probably quarterly).

Yet every few days I have to re-sign in to license some of the tools I use. I don't use a lot of OD anymore since Windowblinds doesn't do much on Win 11 / WinUI apps. I mainly use Start11 v2 (the main reason I keep OD), IconPackager, SoundPackager, and now AltTabby and Snipboard. I used to LOVE Keyboard Launchpad but it's too wonky now on Win 11.

It's Start11 v2 and AltTabby that do this the most. Nothing changes. I haven't installed updates (which seem to ALWAYS force re-activation), but just randomly. I have to login again (I use account activation).

I'm always worried I'm going to run out of activations. But it is also the nuisance of it. Is this expected? Is there a way to see / manage activations myself to see if I have like 800 out there because they are making me to do this several times a week per app? (The legacy apps don't seem to do this.)

Thanks for your help and consideration... and I've said it once I've said it 1,000 times... I'd LOVE to see a new Keyboard Launchpad! ;-)

I hear ya on Keyboard launchpad, it needs a bit of a re-write but it's on our radar. If you want to DM what is wonky about launchpad on Windows 11, happy to get it logged so that it's not lost when we start doing additional testing on the upgrade path for it.

As for the activation issue, is it the same product? Or is it showing differnt products are needing activation?

It happens on AltTabby and Start 11 v2 constantly. All of the other apps I'm running are older (Legacy Products of yours) and don't seem to do that. I just installed Snipboard today, so I'll see if it does it too. It definitely happens almost 100% of the time after an update of one of the apps, but I can live with that. It's just that it randomly does it sometimes too on Start 11 v2 and AltTabby.

For Keyboard Launchpad, it just doesn't always seem to capture properly. I'm using PowerToys Keyboard Manager right now... but ugh... it's even worse on consistent capture. Like I said, I wrote my own in C++, but I'd rather not maintain it. 😉 Super tiny, but kinda meh. SUPER happy to hear you are considering a new version. I was using AHK for a bit (and liked it as it worked all the time), but we have it blocked now for security reasons.
