GalCiv IV Multiplayer Problems

Hello everyone,
My wife and I purchased Galactic Civilizations IV, along with several DLCs, specifically to play multiplayer together.
Unfortunately, we have been experiencing severe multiplayer stability issues since day one. We have encountered well over 100 crashes, disconnects, freezes, and other multiplayer-related problems. In many cases, games crash after only a few minutes or a limited number of turns, requiring us to restart and try again.
The issue has been present from the very beginning and has not improved despite extensive troubleshooting on our side.
Our setup:
- Two separate Steam accounts
- Two different PCs
- Both PCs connected to the same local LAN network
- No mods installed
- Identical game versions
- All DLCs installed and up to date
- Stable internet connection
- IPv4 only
- Both systems running Windows 11
Troubleshooting steps already attempted:
- Verified game files
- Reinstalled the game multiple times
- Started brand new campaigns
- Tested different civilizations
- Tested different galaxy sizes
- Tested various game settings
- Tested different DLC combinations
- Rehosted multiplayer sessions numerous times
- Restarted routers and PCs
- Ensured Windows and drivers are fully updated
- Tried every workaround we could find on Steam Discussions, Reddit, and the official forums
Unfortunately, none of these steps resolved the issue.
At this point, a significant portion of our recorded playtime consists of troubleshooting, reconnecting, restarting sessions, and testing potential fixes rather than actually playing the game.
We've also noticed many reports across Steam Discussions, Reddit, and forum posts describing very similar multiplayer stability issues, which makes us suspect that the problem may not be limited to our systems.
We have saved logs and would be happy to provide them if they could help identify the cause.
Has anyone experienced similar issues and found a solution?
If any developers or support staff are reading this, which log files or diagnostic information would be most helpful for further investigation? We are happy to provide additional details and test any suggested troubleshooting steps.

Really sorry to read you about this. There as been many patches and attempts made to improve the game on that front. The Discord MP channel also has a lot of people reporting and providing the log files from %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv4\Debug to help the Devs to plug up all the desynch isssues. If you want to come over on the GC4 discord to share those, that would be helpful.

Going to toss this out.

From a podcast I saw stating that wi-fi can lose sync if not line of sight.

Could this be the cause of the majority of the D-syncs?

As said just food for thought.

Doubtfull, it's mostly an engine issue I would think.
