CursorFX

I am using CursorFX; but the cursor randomly changes from the cursor I have chosen, back and forth to the generic Microsoft cursor. This is annoying, and not what I paid for.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know few more details.

You on Windows 10 or 11? Also, need to know what version and OS Build number. You can use Winver.exe to get these information.
CursorFX full version number installed.
The issue happen on any Cursor style, or only on specific Cursor style?

System is Windows 11 Pro; version 25H2; build 26200.7462 CursorFX is 4.03 I have tried two styles, and it does the same thing with both

I can not reproduce your issue on my Windows 11 25H2 OS Build 26200.7462. And, if I remember correctly, there is no other user reporting this same issue recently.

Would like to suggest to try these steps uninstall CursorFX, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

Perhaps something is blocking CursorFX from working properly, would like to suggest try Clean boot and see if something is conflicting with it. Refer here for steps: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1369505793/CursorFX+Clean+Boot. Do note that Clean boot need to be done with some care. Try it and report back.

Just to be certain, check the Windows settings "Accessibility > Mouse pointer and touch." Make sure the Size is set to 1. Any other setting seems to mess with CursorFX stability. Only use CursorFX configs to set the size of the cursor.

There are also two types of files available on WinCustomize. They are CURXPTHEME File (.CurXPTheme), and CUSORFX File (.CursorFX).
check in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX\Themes" and see if you have both. Make a note of one that is a CursorFX file, and then try applying it using CursorFX.

Try both of these and see if either help.

I am also using 26200.7462, and am unable to reproduce your issue.

All my files are .CursorFX

I made sure the Mouse Pointer and touch was set to 1.

I did the Clean Boot, and even with nothing else running (except for Norton Antivirus, which I could not disable), the same problem occurred, although maybe a little less often. It's easy to test for the issue, because it happens most often when I move the cursor over a link in an e-mail; it ALWAYS changes from the FX cursor to the white MS hand.

It seems I'll have to live with this, or give up on FX. Don't know what changed, because it didn't used to do this.

Open the CursorFX configs, select the cursor in question, and click the yellow button on the right. This will open the cursor states. Make sure the cursor actually has a hand cursor included.

If it does, then it is something else, which will need further investigation.

You could try running the Purge .bat file, which will uninstall everything, including the themes. Make sure to back those up somewhere before running the purge.

There is a hand cursor. I ran the batch file and then reinstalled, and there is no difference. It still changes back to MS cursor on and off, usually when I move between one window to another.

This is definitely not normal behavior. It could be that something, possibly another third party software, is interfering with CursorFX.

Since you have the Pro version of Windows, you could try installing CursorFX in Windows Sandbox which would eliminate Norton Antivirus from the equation.
