Not sure how to proceed

I've recently become interested in customizing my windows 11 experience. The only real customization outside of the normal settings i've done is RetroBar however.

I tried using the demo for StartAllBack, but it ended up breaking my system for a while. The screen went black, the taskbar would show up for a moment, and then disappear. This would happen in a loop. I was able to get Task Manager open, but I couldnt find the process for StartAllBack. Eventually, StartAllBack's menu opened, and I was able to disable it from there.

I really want to customize my Windows 11, but I want to minimize the risk of me starting my computer, only for one or two little programs to completely brick it. Any advice for a new user?

To get the full effect you need to use WB 11 and Start 11, and you will be able to change the look a feel of your desktop.

I am a user of StartAllBack, and this is intended to be used with Themes, using a Theme Patcher like UltraThemePatcher, and then Themes. In screenshots of the month, all my Topics are Mostly Themes using StartAllBack. I too had issues at the beginning using Themes, but i found it was the Patcher i was using UXTheme Patcher, the one listed above was 100% more stable for me, now i run dozens of Themes on my Win 11 System, with no issues.

The safest way to theme your desktop without much risk, is WB11 and Start11. Themes and the way they are used, are better suited to advanced users, who know how to recover things should they happen.

Also please note that StartAllBlack, Themes and other Tools alter (aka 'hack') system files, where Stardock apps totally avoid to touch system files. I would start with Start 11 and WindowBlinds. The only con ist that there are only 2 decent skins that have a real dark mode.
