Is ObjectDock causing slow boot times?

I've installed ObjectDoc on my Win7-74 SP1 system and although I like it there does seem to be a problem: my system not boots in about twice the time it used to.

Is this an ObjectDock issue? Or should I be looking someplace else for some sort of startup problem?

I use services.msc to set a number of autostart programs & change them to manual or auto start delayed.Copy & paste it into the run cmd if you have it on startmenu or just use startmenu search function & decide if you want manual start or delayed.Right click on the entry & select properties.Before making a change create a txt file & write into it what the original setting was,do this for any changes you make it'll keep a record of what was original & what wasn't.

other option use ccleaner to disable unnecessary startup programs

there are other things you don't need if your like me & manually update programs regularly as an example windows auto update,flash updater,web browsers etc,etc

Normally,it shouldn't. Yet,with many active plugins,it will. Or,it may be other apps on your system caused that.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have any plugins for my dock but I did go through services.msc and was able to knock out a few things (like MBAM and Backup Scheduling, both of which I do myself.)

Even so I find the ObjectDock is the last thing to come up at boot time and I can tell by the speed of my system's fan that there is a fair amount of CPU activity going on just before ObjectDock shows up on my screen.

I seem to recall some sort of program that monitors boot activity and gives a readout of what gets started and how long it takes to get going. I'll see if I can find that and do some experimenting.

I've tried several things and discovered the following:

1. When I take ObjectDick out of my startup sequence my system boots in normal time (about 13 seconds - my boot drive is a Samsung 840Pro SSD.)

2. When I start ObjectDock after booting without it auto-starting it takes 17.4 seconds for the dock (I have only 1) to show up. This seems like a long time and I haven't investigated what's going on during this time. I'll do more on this and report back what I find.

3. After starting ObjectDock, if I close it and then restart it, the dock appears almost immediately.

So my preliminary conclusion is that ObjectDock has to do something special the first times it start after a system boot. Perhaps it is looking at disk drive catalogs - my system has 2 SSD's and 2 HDD's - but this is just a guess right now.

I think what you need to do is look at the items you have on the dock and try to determine if one of them is causing the problem. This has happen to some folks in the past and I believe it's the only way to find your problem. What you will have to do is delete one item at a time off the dock and then reboot or you could delete the dock and then put back each item one at a time, rebooting each time. I use Object Dock on a Windows 7 64 bit system and it doesn't slow down the system.

Well I hear what you're saying Philly, but my dock is quite simple - just 6 tabs, each of which contains only shortcuts to programs I use. All my software is installed on my boot drive. The only non-shortcut I have is one ObjectDock pointer to My Calendar, which is my Google calendar. I'll experiment with removing this one tomorrow and post results here.
