Similarly to others' difficulties:
- Neither DesktopX v3 nor v4beta appear in the Stardock Central list of my programs
- WindowFX v5beta appears in the SC list, but not WFX v4
- SC will not permit me to install to a directory of my choosing.
Click on the 'gear' in the upper right corner of SDC's main window and select 'Settings'. At the bottom of the settings dialog you can set the install directory of your choice (File Locations).
You should be able to D/L WFX4 from the MyDownloads page of the Stardock Store. This may be a 'beta' aspect of SDC - maybe it will include prior (non-current) versions, maybe not. But the older versions are available at the store (WB1.3 is still there on my page).
That only changes the download location, not the install location. You'll want to turn off the silent install option in order to say where you want them installed.
Thx for the clarification, Rosco. Should have caught that.

I'm joking around in a Support thread.............
I am not sure if this is the same reported problem re SDC...
Thanks for the responses, folks, and I realize I could've been clearer in one aspect of my problem description. In stating that "SC will not permit me to install to a directory of my choosing," I was referring to the Stardock Central program itself. From the get-go, Ive run SC with the "Silently install new software" item unchecked, and've had no problem installing Object Desktop stuff.
I've got a sizable history of becoming peevish when a program's set-up routine won't allow me to install the pgm where I want....<shrugs>
To find again.
Who do I see to get the check for unused PTO?
Due to a limitation in how UAC works, in order to allow Stardock Central to update itself automatically without user intervention, I had to install it to a very specific directory and could not allow users to select a different directory. I'm basically following the "Chrome" model of how updates happen.
UAC? UAC? Don't get me started...
Useless Annoying Crap.
What's a UAC?
This is on my wish list. Can SDC or the account downloads page have a release date applied to all the programs?
