Install Impulse (a link should be in your confirmation email)

When asked during installation.....enter login information you used during purchase

The "My Software" tab will then list all the Object Desktop applications and allow you to install what you wish without having to install all of it.

Right clicking on an application brings up a menu that includes "Download and Archive"

The ObjectDesktop programs are installed through Impulse. I'm not sure what you mean by 'find the download for archive'. The following link (Tips and Tricks #2) shows you how to setup where to save archives.

kagalaska... Impulse is Stardock's download, update and archiving application. There's nothing to be afraid of using it...please believe me. I hope the following translation is understandable...

I figure he's just frustrated, and maybe there are language inaccuracies...doesn't know about Impulse....there are lots of possibilities....including just looking for a place to download what he bought. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, though...

Wasn't that difficult to understand really, the reg process was a pain in the arse for him, and those pop-up adverts about games/etc. from impulse are the spam. Kagalaska, can't you just disable Impulse and use it only for downloading?

I don't particularly care to buy a program that I want, only to find out that I must install another program to get it. No option.. you MUST install this other program (before we'll give you the one you bought) which will connect to our servers, etc etc etc..... I can understand his frustration. I guess I don't mind so much with Impulse, I guess because I like the program OK, and the suite of stardock progs I use, but I do understand it. I generally pass on such options and seek other alternatives which do not require such a process. But that's just me, and in this case, apparently the OP as well...

natas2, I've done the same as you. Hell, we all have...and felt badly after the rush to judgement....so I say, "Give 'em a chance...it isn't as important to be right as it is to be kind."

If you buy a program that only runs on XP and you've got Windows 7 and you don't look at the system requirements first....who's fault is it?

Impulse Now is a separate application from Impulse and can safely be disabled on startup through it's own options, MSConfig, or your favorite startup manager (like TweakVista/7).

i have noticed newcomers here are baffled by impulse, they are looking to download an exe installer,, as opposed to installing impulse and then the desired program, when i first started coming here and purchasing software it was the first time i had used one program to install numerous others

As a practical matter, download managers are a requirement because IE and other browsers won't support more than 2GB downloads. And while a particular program may not be 2GB, it becomes simpler for a company with multiple products to just standardize on a single distribution format.

Another reason to have impulse was stated last year,every piece of software that is a .exe has it's own installer that means you put more junk on the computer every time you install a program as any decent software will come with an installer (apart from safe software that run in their own folder),so doing away with stand alone installers & using impulse means only needing 1 installer not many,also makes updating less of a pain in the butt,as popups etc from impulse has nobody ever realized programs have settings that can be changed & before anyone goes off OS's have annoying popus as well after install
