I just got an email from FreakingNews.com. I entered a contest and got the following email:
"Hey DrJBHL,
Congratulations! Your entry, iPeriod? iMess? iPad!, was selected as a
Jury's pick (amongst the cream of the crop) in Contest 2763.
This is really just a pat on the back since this award is independent of
the contests and any monetary reward,
but that doesn't mean you shouldn't feel proud of yourself. Heck, give
yourself a hug. Job well done!
To see your shiny new gold star go to your stats page."
Although it's probably really just a kind of a consolation prize, to me it's an Olympic Gold Medal...I was in a competition with folks who really know what they're doing!
Stepping back...
Although I had been using Windowblinds practically since it's inception, I never ventured into Forums. Then, in 2008 (the campaign raging) I summoned up some gumption and waded in. One big toe. Got a cold reply and felt really bad...but a truly good person named Zubaz told me to toughen up...
So I started to participate more and met starkers and angus1949 (Mark and Ed) and started feeling really at home. Then came Photoshop. I got my butt handed to me by some folks...and a good guy named Fuzzy Logic tried to give Ed and me some lessons...it really was in self defense that I started to whack away at it... ("Pick Your Face"- Shaunna) and watching Po' (evil genius) and skinhit go at it (my ribs still ache)...I started playing with Photoshop. Next big step? My first wall (thank you sydneysiders for encouraging me along with tbc) and some learning in beginning stages with WebGizmos (everybody give some good thoughts for him...he went to the ER today in a lot of pain).
I've got a heck of a lot to learn...even about the simplest things that everybody seems to know about....but when I do, I'll start fooling around with simple stuff in skinning (like grapes).
This is my story...and my little, itsy bitsy pat on the back...thanks to WinCustomize and Stardock.
