Hey there. I have recently installed Multiplicity on Windows 7 Home Premium and on a laptop running Vista Home Premium and when I switch screens, the screen I'm leaving goes black. It never used to do that, is it a setting I'm missing? Or is it a borked install? Or does it just not work on 7?
It sounds like you have enabled the darken the screen when connected option in the interface tab.
If thats not checked, make sure you didn't set the monitor control setting (Secondary machines tab, pick the machine and click configure)
Hey Red Neck - how are you sharing monitors? This is how mine is on Win7 for 2 other machines using XP Pro. I do not use Vista anymore but it was always the same. If you have it shared it will switch from one to the other and leave the one you are not using black or blank screen as such the case may be for your problem.
Shelby, I have never had a screen go blank when switching. I have used Multiplicity on several PC. I prefer both screens show at all times. It has always worked that way for me, until now. I have it set to share with Primary.

I don't have the darken the screen checked. I don't understand the second statement, Neil. Please expound on that.

Tried that Shelby...no go. Still goes dark on me. BTW, Redneck is one word...you redneck!!
This is my settings on Vista on the PC and Vista on the laptop as secondary. Everything works fine. No dark screens.
Same settings on 7, with the same laptop as secondary. But I get the dark screens.
delete the shares with primary and what happens?
and restart the system...
Black screen....but...
I found the problem!
I verified installation on 7 and it wasn't installed correctly. Reinstalled, with above settings, and now I get no black screens and everything works! Thanks guys.
OK glad to hear that...
The "Shaes monitor with" setting is for when you have 2 machines connected to the same monitor on different interfaces. On monitors that support it, Multiplicity will switch the input being displayed when switching machines. If you don't have multiple machines connected to the same monitor the shares with setting should be set to "None".
This may be true, Shirley, but the setup in reply 10 is working for me and I'm not messing with it.
Yeah, that was more for the sake of others that may find this thread. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
