I made a simple comment that I felt this was not Master quality and I will pass on buying it, and all hell breaks loose.
With much respect for who you are and what you have accomplished and have done for others....
- How do you come to the conclusion that it is NOT Master Quality without downloading it and trying it?
- It's partly because of 'who you are' and 'what you have accomplished' that it did raise so much hell. Honestly, having observed you for only a few years and what you do for folks, etc., I would have thought you would have made such a comment in an email to her and gone into the reasons behind it.
When did we stop supporting one another and just start bashing each others efforts? Without knowing or even pretending to know what 'may' be behind it all, it sure looks like hunting season has started a tad early on WC.
I just don't get the way some folks are behaving. It's venomous. If the issue is with Vampothika, take it up privately. If it is with STardock, take it up with them. But bashing her in her gallery/comments...no. JUst 'no'. Everyone here who has ever skinned and have had that happen knows how it hurts. You know how much you would like to remove the comment. To say 'It's happened to me and I moved on' is bull. You didn't like it then. You wouldn't like it if it happened tomorrow. You would want a peer, equal, or someone who's opinion may carry a great deal of weight to do it privately. If they feel they should do it publicly, it should be highly constructive AND supportive, especially if you are someone like a Master Apprtentice or Journeyman.
One thing i forgot to add to my last comment in this thread is that when someone is going to release a master skin it is MY OPINION that said skins should include substyles for at least XP and Vista ( and now windows 7) to make them worth the price of purchase.
I saw a few of these coments as well. What if they don't run XP? IS a MAster required to run all three versions of WIndows? (What about folks still running 2000?) The day I got Vista, they announced Windows7. I could have cried. Let me say this, with respect to the plight of those on XP...
Learn to skin. Spend a couple months hovering over Photoshop and Skinstudio trying to position buttons and double checking each pixel on your corners. Spend hours on just the start menu and trying to get it to strtch just right. Spend days trying different colors, transparencies, and fonts. The fonts will drive you insane. Try to find the time in your real life to spend to just complete one skin and then you can bitch. You think going from XP to Vista to 7 is like changing the little rubberized skin on your new cell phone. It ain't. Not even close.
As for Brushes....I am not perfect. I have overlooked credits on at least two occassions and got taken to task on it. I got so caught up in the work, I left out one resource in a list of three or ten. It happens. I was not trying to pull anything off. I even felt so bad, I bought the one artist a subscription at DA. It just happens sometimes.
