I can tell you exactly how it is dangerous. I have vista ultimate oem upgrade on a HP laptop that had vista home premium on it. Every time I install and apply a new boot skin my system will not come up on reboot. In fact it hangs at a blank screen. I have had to use two extra of my five lifetime limit of online vista activations to reinstall everything back onto my system and trust me it's alot of stuff that works perfectly otherwise and is well tweaked and humming along just fine without it.
Thus and so, I am looking for answers why on the forum to no avail just yet.
My first reaction is to install impulse on a virtual machine and safely test everything in safety before I use it in production given the bad experience I have with it. However that much testing is dangerous as I would probably lose my registration for re-activating the products so much. Maybe, maybe not but I am certainly not willing to test that right now and my fustration would be to dump it and tell everyone I could just how dangerous it is and how a bad experience led to more bad experiences and lost a few bucks along the way. This is the worst I've come across so far for Object Desktop Ultimate. The things that don't work I can live with as overall these tools work as advertised. But losing access to my machine, that doesn't make me happy at all at any price.
Enough ranting. What I really need to know is what files to back up so I can restore them to see where the resolution is. I know all about how to do it manually (without or before BSV), but what I don't know is if BSV does any variation and don't really care. Just how to get access to my system back when the program crashes.
Once I get that far then we can talk about why a grown man is so fixated with controlling his boot screen, and only through Stardock, when it only appears for under ten seconds anyway and even then ostensibly when the pc starts anyway. After all, no one ever ran over to my screen to watch it boot before. Thank God. I, however, reserve the right to run over my screen anytime I've had enough. That might draw attention I am pretty sure.
I'm about to download the paid version through impulse again after spending a week and a half at restoring and tweaking everything just the way I want it - again. I know what they say about people who do the same thing over and over again expecting different results. I know what your probably thinking - so am I. That so far no one I've found reported the same problem.
My quest is simple. Just explain the backup and restore procedure for the files/keys etc without having to backup everything which takes hours on end.
Thank You in Advance.
