Half my argument is that ALL you have to say that it doesn't work on x64 systems is a measily 32bit notice in the system requirements. It's absolutely pathetic and it worries me that other people don't feel the same, considering the amount of people that post in this very forum complaining that they've bought the product, only to find that the feature is "coming soon" according to the program and "whenever we feel like it" according to the forums.

Surely you can't contest that point. I'm happy enough at the moment that I've got it to do what I want but other not so tech savvy people are going to want the files mentioned in the OP so they can quickly get the program to do what THEY want.

Internet, serious business for the forum goers at Stardock. Don't blow this out of proportion when it really isn't needed - I'm just voicing my concerns and feel it's wrong to have one tiny little notice that reads it, considering the amount of people that HAVE posted here saying "WTF IT DOENZT WERK?!" over the period of oh-so-many-months.

Is it really THAT much to ask that a public release is made for JUST x64 to tide us over till whenever the illusive v2.0 is released or at least a little bit of a better warning? Obviously it seems so, considering the amount of negative responses my posts have attracted.

There ain't the tiniest hint on 32/64 Windows ...

I currently run windows xp pro 64, I would expect any or all windows apps to work in 64 bit (xp/vista) , sense processors that are 32bit are extinct, regardless, OD dos  work with limits, that I can handle for a FREE app. My question is this, is the issue fixed in the plus version or not and if not, don't spend the money.

Correct most apps run 32bit; do to back words compatibility that is in 64bit processors (thanks AMD), and OS support for this, this makes for lazy coding of apps, this also do to business that use poorly coded apps, or just out dated. This in turn hurts the non commercial user, and OD is a good app, that could be a great app, I still use it, just as is... but would you run a v8 like a 4cyl.? Got the muscle use it.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like real chutzpah coming onto a Forum owned by Stardock and explaining to folks how to hack the software sold by that firm. The system requirements are clearly stated. Use it or don't. Be patient for official releases of proprietary software, or don't. But don't come on this Forum and tell Stardock how to run it's business in public.

You could have handled this in email/pm with the developers/Moderators/Admins, but you chose a public Forum. Other sites would have exiled you without a warning. Island Dog chose to be kind to you. Be grateful.

I feel the pain of the people complaining about stardock.....I have been using their software as an OD subscriber for a while now....they are very good at teasing their customers with the promise or implication that they will soon have updated software and never or after a very long wait they finally post an update....

OD+-------same thing.....if they have a beta version through SDC then why not have it available on Impulse?

They seem to abandon their long time customers who patiently wait for updates to current programs but instead they work on new software for Windows 7......I am sure there are a lot of us that are very interested in software that works on XP or Vista......and not for 7.

I for one will not be resubscribing when mine expires......They have made to many "coming soon" statements then never produce anything.......so if you buy the OD software thinking that with patience you will be rewarded.......prepare to be let down over and over again....I won't be fooled again.

Stardock has released more software than they can handle, it's quite obvious. And it's a shame, because the software really *was* top notch, and deserve further development.

Ok, yes its wrong... but when a application in fact doesnt work...then all the issues are moot.

if a application is stated as not compatible but somebody comes up with a work aaround...then so be it.

The law wont protect non-working aspects of existing product.

Ie if one person creates something but the something is not working ...but somebody else makes it work. Thats ok.

Bad is if the else person then markets it or similar...   besides, if u are only modifying your own pgm and you know what u are doing...then the concerns are irrelevant.

A person who once wrote his own version of early windoze 3.1 (and amiga os and APPLE OS (II not mac).

I consider the issues to be one of 'them being overloaded'  because they could easily do workarounds and use that till they get it fixed.

Fortunately there are 'startmenu' workalikes  that will work somewhat similar

Ive been using VistaStartmenu almost since i started using stardock... 

It does the job, though i would still prefer a complete replacement of the 'windows' start menu' still.

As far as 64bit veruss 32bit..

On my 64bit quadcore vista64 system with 6gig, I have a huge amount of 32bit and older applications running and much of it with no customization at all... 

I even have some old windows 3.1 still... and even older stuff in some cases.  

Naturally when I find a better version of a application or etc, i replace it, but I tend to retain all my past stuff on cd's.

Example:  

  I have had every version of OFFICE since the beginning, but run the latest when possible.

  In the startmenu issue, its more about stardock laziness or incapability especially when you can google the alternatives and try each one out.

I tried several and chose the one I liked most.  and though I have to still retain the 'original' windows taskbar still, its getting me there.

The only thing keeping me from hiding the windows task bar totally, is the rightmost task items are not showing in stardock when active apps do.
