Window Blinds 6.3 & Internet Explorer 8 Issue

Drop down tabs

Hi!

I just downloaded Internet explorer 8 & updated to Window Blinds 6.3. For some reason, the drop down tabs at the top right are not working properly. When I click the page, saftey, tools & the ? tabs the words in the tab display are not displaying. When I press on these drop down tabs, it drops down & the individual sections of the tab are there, but there are no words in it. Makes the tabs impossible to use. When I removed window blinds from IE8, I could see everything listed under these drop down tabs.

I have the same problem over here, I think its a minor problem because there are two WBlinds theme's that work just fine with ie8 and they are from before ie8, one of theme is WB skin called "Frames", this one workes oke with ie8, I don't know why but it works.

I am also seeing this issue. I have reported it to stardock already. Anyways I have found it to occur on any skin. I have tested on the following skins.

Diamond (included with WindowBlinds)

Aero Metal (included with WindowBlinds)

Gridlok (listed as a Master Skin on Wincustomize)

Broken Aero

Here are some example screenshots I have made real quick.

With WindowBlinds applied:

Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 with WindowBlinds skin applied

With only the Windows XP Theme:

Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 with only XP Theme

Oh and since you ask for it here is my system info.

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6.3 (build 68 x86)

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC
WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC
Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

(Default Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS

I just found a fix (or workaround if you wish) for this. Open WindowBlinds Configuration and Navigate to Settings -> Advanced User Settings. In there enable "I would like WindowBlinds to use Vista UI guidelines when skinning menus". Once done re-open IE8 if you have not already done so. Now all menus will display correctly albeit they won't necessarily be skinned. I'd rather that WB skips skinning them though than not be able to see what each option is. Here is a screencapture of it skinned. This is the Zing! master skin on WinCustomize at work here. As you can see not only is the text there on the menu but so are the icons. The green for the Page and Safety text is the skin doing the text color change.

Thank you shinji2570 for this work around. As you said, it is at least good to be able to see the tools tab, even unskinned, then to not to see them at all.

hahahahaha is really very funny read you, what the monkeys talking about IE problems.. sorry I'm dying of laughin but I also had the same problem.

I have the solution to that problem.. check out.

Open windowblinds config, go to settings, advanced, change the look of app, then add a rule (browse to C:\Program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe) and select ignore this app (do not skin it). That should fix that f... problem. also you can add any program that is causing problems with the skin.

or you could just uninstall WB, since adding IE to the per exclusion kinda defeats the whole purpose anyway...

I don't know if reinstalling app may resolve the ridiculous IE problem, anyway reinstalling WB may take several minutes, however if we exlude IE in the list it may take us about 10 seconds.

Nice post form the past . . but WB 6.4 doesn't appear to have the issue (on vista 64 and Win7 32).
