Okay folks lets see how good your memory is.

Along with getting the occasional joke sent my way my friends also send me some teasers dealing with nostalgia.

The below link should get some of the older member here thinking and remembering. Movie and TV westerns.

Now for some of the non American members this may not bring back memories unless they made it on to your TV or theaters. I know some of them have been seen around the world.

wow.., i could only remember one of them.., i guess becouse he died in the 90's...

thanks for the link Philly....watched 'em all growing up....

...when Hopalong Cassidy visited Australia in the 50's..my mother was out at the airport with my toddler brother in her arms to meet someone.......Hopalong got off the plane...and came over to her and plucked him out of her arms to have his photo taken with him by the waiting press.....she had no idea who he was...and wondered what the hell was going on...lol......no doubt he just thought she was a waiting fan....

great trip down memory lane.....had forgotten about a few of them...

My father was a Westerns fan through and through so I grew up with Randolph Scott (dad's fav actor of all time), Glenn Ford and many of those listed in that presentation... not to mention many of the shows: like Lawman; Bronco Lane; Wagon Train; Cheyenne and Have Gun Will Travel.

Two of my fave Westerns are Glenn Ford's: "Fastest Gun Alive and "Heaven With a Gun".

Ah, they were the good old days... when violence could be implied and wasn't depicted in the most graphic detail, as it too often is today. Besides, the actors of yesteryear had a certain character and charisma and relied on their acting skills rather than special effects... something that's missing in many of today's movie stars.

i agree starkers.my dad loved his westerns his fav was alan ladd,audie murphy.myself it was the lawman,raw hide have gun will travel, good old days.

Yup, the good ol' days orright. Another of my fav Western serials was 'Hec Ramsay' with Richard Boone... was set more at the end of the 'Wild West' period and focussed more on the beginnings of forensics as a law enforement tool rather than the 'six shooter'.

Now here's a question that somebody here may be able to answer. It pertains to Jack Elam of Wagon Train fame and to a show in which he played the part of Frankie (Frankenstiens monster) around the early to mid-seventies. What was the name of that show??? It was set in a run down old hotel/guest house which was inherited by one of the old docs descendents.... Frankie came with it and was the handyman.

Thanks for that. Philly... I saw "Struck By Lightening" a couple of times back in the 70's but could never remember what it was called. I was out of town at the time and saw it on a regional network, but when I got back home none of the major networks ran the show or even knew of it... so ever since then I've been curious and wondered if I could get it on VHS, now DVD.

At least now I know its name and can look up on the net for where I might be able to purchase it. I always liked Jack Elam as an actor in Westerns and the like, but Frankie was a totally different role and it captured my interest/imagination.

Saw a bunch that I recognized and quite a few that I watched as a kid. Always liked westerns.
