Considering they had one seperate from their main app, I wouldn't say they have inexperience.
What the best antivirus is is an opinion that varies from person to person, so I think it's safe to say any of the top ten or so will do well for most people. Myself, I'll stick with AVG until I get a reason not to. Although 8.0 started out a lot buggier than I expected it to, it's still done alright by me in general.
As to NOD32, there's no way in hell I'll ever install it again, since the one time I did it hosed my system to the point I needed to reinstall.
Safe habits mean a lot more than what antivirus you're using, anyway. I haven't even had a virus in many years.
