That's like buying a return flight ticket without knowing for sure where you're going to land. Because it's a return ticket you can always come back but there's no point in buying unless you land where you need/want to.

Ridiculous comparison. You're not spending any money to try the update and it would probably take alot less time to try what was suggested then to spend as much time as you do hunting down every thread about ObjectDock and complaining in it.

My guess would be that Snidelys last post is appropriate.

ivan, you're a lost cause. installing the latest build and rolling back, if needed, are simple processes. personally, i think you're afraid of what you might find in the latest build. maybe you won't have a reason to complain as you presently do. is that what you're afraid of? if you don't want to do it, just say so and go on with life. your petty reasons for not wanting to do it are ridiculous, though.

I will only say that at present I will not install the alpha that's on Impulse because of lack of information about it. I don't think it would be troubling Stardock to add that info. Furthermore, due to this lack of information, I would not wish to break further something that's already broken in places. I think the reasoning for installing newer versions only if there's proof that they fix the problems is completely understandable. I have absolutely no intention of trolling or going off-topic.

This is my personal favorite...1.90h beta ------------ x-Fixed problem where tabbed docks could appear when mouse was on on the opposite side of the screen from where they are. The problem is still NOT fixed. so even change logs can be BS, hehe. 8)

Well played. Just shows that just because it says in the changelog doesn't mean it's true. However, this does not negate the point that changelogs should always be there

Not at all. The main concept of that comparison was to indicate my reluctance to do something without knowing 100% that it's what I want. The whole rollback thing is irrelevant. I do not wish to be a guinea pig for something I'm not sure will solve my issues. If Stardock give info about a new release that says that some of the problems i've been experiencing are fixed then by all means i'll give it a go. Until such time, I do not see any reason to update.

I'm not beating any horse. A member of Stardock shared some info about what's going on. I expressed my concerns about that info. Then it got turned into why I don't want to update to latest alpha build. I explained why. Some people decided to get judgemental about that. With all due respect, they shouldn't have done but it's their choice. Just as it is a choice for me to update or not. End of story.

I wish it was the end of the story. It's an ALPHA. It doesn't have documentation.

Can you quite finding every post about Object Dock to complain on? We've heard your complaint. Nothing has changed. Nothing will change.

indeed, ivan, it is your choice to update or not. if you really don't want to update, that's cool. just stop bitching about the app. chances are, the issues you have are related to your machine, anyway. i know i've had issues with WB in the past and questioned things just to learn it was my rig and not the app. try formatting, reinstalling the os, and then sell your rig. that's a better ending to the story.

At no point Stardock support could prove that it's an issue with my PC, ergo, it's not. I, on the other hand, sent them all the evidence to show that those are bugs in OD. They even said so. I don't think anyone needs more proof than that.

Well then you've done all you can to bring it to their attention and trolling the forums for every thread you can find about ObjectDock and typing up the same complaints over and over isn't going to change those problems.

Which is why I will no longer be dragged into this. If I have any more problems then I'll let support know and we'll take it from there. What problems and when Stardock chooses to fix them is up to them, but them sticking their head into the sand and me banging my head against a wall about this are not a way forward. So let's see how soon Stardock can deliver and take things from there.

Actually, it's alpha that's available. And yes, I refuse because there's not a single iota of information from which I can decide whether it's good for me or not so my head is not in the sand.

Stardock delivered something that's not acceptable to me so I did not accept the delivery. Doesn't mean that's everything is hunky dory with the delivery, so things are fair and square. You say it may fix the issues. How do you know? Are you willing to accept responsibility if anything goes wrong? I didn't think so. So until there's more information on released updates I'm staying put.

Ahh! My poor thread! It's been hijacked!

Seriously, though. Let's all be fair and try not to be drooling fanboys for a few minutes. iVAN has issues with the product, and Stardock refuses to address them. There is an Alpha available, but I think we all know it probably won't resolve all or even any of his issues (it certainly didn't address mine - and I actually installed it

). I agree with iVAN that the changelog needs to be updated, even if I'm not willing to make a federal case out of it.

Stardock has officially commented on this thread that they are still developing the product. That's good. They also said "stayed tuned". That's bad, considering the fact that we've been "tuned" for over a year with no official update to the software.

I think Stardock has an overwhelming amount of software that they develop and support - probably too many apps, IMHO. This means that they can't focus on any single application completely, which is understandable given their approach. I appreciate the fact that they take the time to post in the forums and don't ban troublesome users (*cough* iVAN *cough*). It says a lot that they aren't afraid to let people speak their mind.

Still, I have to admit that I also agree with iVAN in that Stardock should really try to address as many current issues with their software before "taking the dock to a new level". The are a ton of little bugs, and some major ones with the current version of ObjectDock. It would seem that if you're going to charge for a program that you should support it, and part of that support is updating the code to address known issues - which again, hasn't happened in over a year. I don't count Alpha releases, sorry.

Finally, I think the stance taken by Stardock of "We've heard your complaint. Nothing has changed. Nothing will change.", is a sad one. The last sentence in that quote is especially alarming and changes my view of the entire company. Perhaps KarmaGirl is just frustrated with an admittedly trollish customer, but I think that comment went too far. If Stardock really doesn't intend to resolve known issues with Objectdock then I will not be spending any more of my money on Stardock products.

If you wade through the forums you'll see that the moderators and devs at Stardock have addressed Ivans issues multiple times and thus the replies he gets. They aren't afraid to let people speak their minds at all it's just that when someone states the same thing numerous times in many, many posts I'm sure it gets annoying.

As for addressing issues with the current release before moving "to a new level". I would imagine they would be addressing known issues in order to reach that new level.

None of it has anything to do with being a fanboy (at least not in my case) it is a matter of seeing the numerous things posted about it by both sides.
