A Last Go @ Win2k

There were a couple of recent threads, one by Draginol and one by Zubaz (I think) about the new 2.0 OB release where this was touched on but both seem to have disappeared.

GreenReaper posted a reply 2 or 3 days ago in one of those threads which seemed in indicate that SDC had been updated to permit installation of OB2 on Win2k. Unfortunately, the message box saying it requires XP or higher is still popping up today when I try to update from 1.65 to the current version.

If OB is at least non-destructive on Win2k, if not fully functional, could SDC be updated to allow installation on Win2K? Not to be continually picky, but the SDC description still says "for Windows 2000 & XP".

Here is the forum post that GreenReaper responded to with item #53. ObjectBar Link

His answer "While it is theoretically possible (but untested) that ObjectBar 2 could work on some revisions of Windows 2000, we know that it definitely does not work with our themes which use DesktopX widgets - basically all the ones that we have used as examples for ObjectBar 2."

I'm aware that the widgets won't work, but I think OB can do a lot without widgets and OB's developer Jeff Bargman, in one of those threads, said OB itself should work on Win2k.

The other thing is, not to sound too whiney, but Win2k compatibility was promised for OB2 and Stardock's own description of the program still says it's "for" Win2k & XP. If nothing else, I'd like SD to clean up the mess & make it clear once & for all whether Win2k compatibility is in the cards or we should forget about it. They froze WB @ 4.6 for non-XP versions, but that version has no glaring defects on Win2k & they made it clear that WB5 was not going to support anything but XP. That's not the case with OB 1.65, hence the disappointment.
