Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

I'm a beginner - need some pointers

Hey everyone,

I've created a Visual Style using "StyleBuilder" (Regular .msstyles) but i've decided to stat using WindowBlinds because it's now got transparency . But, i have a few questions.

a) Should i use WindowBlinds UIS2 format, or the Universal Skin (USF) Format?
1)I'm a bit unfimillar with the GUI of SkinStudio; how do i insert a transparent image as a title bar?
2) Can i use a .png file for a transparent part of a skin? (I don't like .tga's because they can't be viewed without opening a photo editor)
3) How many parts in a skin can be transparent? (Can buttons be transparent, too?)
4) I always hated having to use a color like pink to define transparent parts of the skin, is that still used through SkinStudio?

Thanks for your help!

a) UIS2
1) involved question probably better to check the tutorials you can get to on the "Articles" tab at the top of the page.
2) Yes. I believe SS will do the conversion for you.
3) Good question. I'll leave it to someone who knows for sure.
4) Yes with bmp files.

Hope someone else can answer #3. I'd like to know myself.

a..UIS2
1..It's fairly obvious.
2..Yes... use the Import function
3..Lots... translucent buttons have been possible for quite some time.(WB4)

4..Transparency still uses magic pink. Translucency uses alpha blending.

Well, actually, for me it's not - when i tried to import a tanslucent .tga it converted it to a bitmap.. i'll try again tho

P.S. Oh, and how do i change the margins that devide up titlebar buttons? (e.g. regular, pressed, mouseover)?

of course. heard the whole building went south, MITS was pushing another update, said it would take 1-2 hrs and needed everyone logged off...just before they were done, some mgr told his people if they could get back on to go to work...glitched the whole process and they had to start over
