So I got the internet conneted on Friday [a couple of days ago] and figured I'd let you folks know how things are/went with the big move.  Hehe, so much for good intentions.... cos I thought bugger you's, I got new toys to play with.... and proceeded to mess around wiv 'em.

Yup, this NBN [National Broadband Network] is the bees knees and is so fast that I gotta be very careful what I type.  I mean, don't wanna be sayin' shit wot ain't appropriate fer internet consumption afore I can proof read it and goes up, now, do I!  Yes, it's that quick.  The techie wot installed it reckons I have one of the best speeds he's seen.  At the time I was receiving 24.95mbs, my overall speed is supposed to be 25mbs, and he said that's excellent, given the connection to my PC was/is wireless.

Anyhow, that doesn't even touch on the other stuff I got.  Apart from the NBN and this space age modem that's just superb, I got this 8" you-beaut tablet-come-phone that's positively loaded with apps and gives me access to a whole range of things without having to bring them up on my PC.  Not only that, I got a space age phone which goes through the NBN, not the old copper network, and has a set of features I'm still learning about.  Like WOW!  Better still, I can use these devices wirelessly anywhere in the house... even out in the shed out back. Shoot, I can even plug in my Panasonic phone to the modem and have up to 6 additional handsets about the place... like I could have phones coming out of my proverbial *** if I wanted to.

So how did the move go?  Not as smooth as I would have liked.  A mate and I did the lion's share of it in his ute [well he probably did 70% of the work] because I couldn't get a truck on the day due to an overbooking and school holidays falling the day before.  We started a 7.00am that day and were still going at 2.30am the next morning.  Let's just say that I was completely knackered for a week or so afterwards and could barely move some days.  Luckily my mate got a friend of his to lift all the heavy items that I couldn't manage, but he was available only for an hour and we couldn't get anyone else to help... leaving me and my mate with the bulk of the shift. Shaunna and her crew were going to help but she hurt her knee and had to stay off it, and a situation arose that took the others elsewhere to attend to a family matter.

Never mind, I got here and I'm loving it.  NO FECHEN STAIRS!!!!!!  Hehe, this living on one level is the go... even the toilet is better.  Yup, when you have  hip, knee and spinal issues, a taller, slightly wider pedestal makes all the difference.  And no comments from the peanut gallery regarding my having a fat arse, orright?

Shoot, I might even try getting into the bathtub as well. It isn't set into the floor as low and has built in hand positions to assist persons with disabilities to get in and out.  Like showers are okay, but a good soak in a tub with some of those fancy bath salts would be excellentamundo.  Another great thing is that there's bus stops in very close proximity [like just across the road and 40m away on our side] and I can get to anywhere I want without the 30 - 40 minute walk like before, meaning I can still get out on days when I'm not feeling overly mobile.

Next subject?  Mothers!   It didn't matter how stiff and sore I was from doing that humongous day's work moving, do you think I could get her to go out and mow the yard?  Nope!  I even brought the petrol mower so's she didn't have to use the push/manual mower, but there was no persuading her.  I even tried a bit of blackmail... didn't work, either.  However, what I lost in the garden I made up for in the kitchen.  Apart from many other talents and abilities, mum is one great cook and I've enjoyed some you-beaut meals since I've been here.

I still have some unpacking and settling in to do, but I'm not under pressure to get it done so I do a bit each day and my man cave in the garage is nicely taking shape. Over the next couple of days I hope to have everything set up, all the electricals plugged in, and me pirate booty situated as necessary.  Hehe, what be tha point o' bein' tha cap'n if'n I don't set it up like a pirate cave?

Okay, so that's it for now.  Grub's up n' I 'aves a shark's appertight.

It 'WAS' going to be a HELL OF A LOT better.....

....almost as fast as third-world countries....

Quoting Jafo,

Ah...the third-rate, watered-down Abbott version of the NBN.

No, I got the original Labor inspired NBN.... Fibre-Optic to the premises.... Not that Abbott crap, which is fibre-optic to the node [outside in the footpath] and copper to the premises.  Bloody idiots couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery/root in a brothel.  Using copper to the premises when fibre-optic is just outside, is like creating a 20 lane motorway each way that condenses down to just one lane at the city limits on either end.

Bottleneck anyone?  Nope, I don't have that!  I am on the best available speed at this point [25mbs], though I was told to expect it to double in the next 12 - 18 months if Abbott's crazy idea gets the carbosh, which it is expected to.  Experts have advised this de-facto government that the copper network is far too antiquated to keep up with demand and is in such disrepair it is constantly being replaced with fibre-optic [to homes and businesses anyway] to ensure there is a telco network.

Another biggie with this NBN, I get Foxtel piped through it instead of having the satellite dish on the roof... meaning fewer to no interruptions due to weather or atmospheric conditions.

Hehe, so now when I'm watching porn, I won't get any picture break up and those pixelated rude bits.  Oh how I hate censorship by weather.

Hey Doc......

Ah crap, it's nice to see you too.  Bugger!

Oops,.. I meant, Hey Glad you're still kickin'!  Long time no see!

So, so glad you survived my absence.

The person I most wanted to see when I came back is Dolly Parton - WITH PICS - but I suppose in her absence you pair will do.

Quoting Fuzzy Logic,

I just feel sorry for the neighbours..

I'll have you know that I'm quiet, clean living and considerate of the folk nearby.... well I try to be.  Only had the police responding to 6 complaints over the weekend.

Actually, I'd make a few more complaints, but some folks have figured out I like a shandy or 6 now and then... and others have promised to take me to the pub just down the street where they have topless barmaids serving shandies with a wobble and a smile.  Now I could get used to that if they're paying the $5 cover charge and shout the 1st dozen rounds of drinks.

One of the blokes across the road came home with a black eye and a fat lip last time he went.  Apparently he only put 50c in for the cover charge, and when the barmaid called him cheap, he replied with: "Maybe, but I'm not the one with my tits out."  That's when the fight started.

As for the "dial up"  25mbs ain't nothing to sneeze at.  It's quite fast.... though I'd prefer it if the Playboy cover girl slideshow went a bit slower.

Quoting Uvah,

Great to have ya back cap'n. Here's a coming home gift.

Hmmm, almost as good at the t*tty girls down at the pub, but it's the thought that counts and I thought nekkids pics 'd be nice

Hey Barb, it's great to be back and good to see you too. I just hope you can cope with all the dirty talk that Fuzzy feller inspired.  He has a habit of doing that, so blame him.

Yup, and I'd volunteer to press her communicator wots pinned to her uniform.

In fact, she should have one either side so it's not just the one arm that gets tired.

I mean, it'd look better if I reported to sick bay with both arms incapacitated, right?

Lucky sod...

I somehow don'tr think Abbott's version of it will get off the ground.  Too many in the industry have labelled it a failure and the advice given is that the cost would blow out as more and more of the copper network began to fail.  He'd be committing political suicide if he proceeded with it, so you're quite likely to get it in its original format when the time comes to connect... as in you must upgrade to the NBN once it's in your area due to the copper network being ripped up/disconnected.

Quoting Fuzzy Logic,

We tried but the saltie turned up its nose and decided the rotting carcass of a mutant three-headed dingo was much better fare.

And no, we can't feed him to a great white, either.  The RSPCA has declared it will prosecute the perpetrators of such a cruel act to the fullest.

A one-way trip into space would be one way to be rid of the imbecile, but there's nothing being launched soon enough to put him out of our misery before year's end.

It is common knowledge here that the cretin was born in England, and there has been talk of deporting the arsewipe back there, but the British PM clearly stated that he'd pull the plug and sink the joint before letting "that poor excuse for a human being" into the country.  Can't say as I blame him, but we sure as hell don't want the mindless miscreant here.

C'mon NASA, please, please, please bring that launch date forward 4 months and book the political pestulence on it.  BTW, give him the ejector seat that automatically activates upon leaving the atmosphere.  Thank you!.

You can be rest assured, Dave, if I have to take a leave of absence again, I will undoubtedly ruin your feeling "better for a bit" with an unexpected return.  You will NOT get notice or fair warning.... I'll just BE HERE.

And it's good to see you, too.

Quoting Wizard1956,

.........you were gone?

Just briefly while I moved and waited for the internet to be put on.  However, there was no peace or rest for the wicked... mother cracked the whip, the dogs barked and the hounds began to wail.  I still have about 8 boxes to unpack, not to mention finding storage space for the contents, but there's no hurry and it's all working out nicely.

The one thing that does surprise me is just how many people around here have the same name.  Bloke two doors up reckons the area is jam packed with Jerry Atrics.

Outdone by Steve, you mean.  Like a brewer's horse, he was.

BTW, I made some headway in the mancave and should have it set up properly in the next couple of days.  Mostly it's hooking up all the electricals [audio and visual] and ensuring everything plays/sounds right... putting the last few things where I want them.

Nope, you lot tried him in a British court and locked him up over there.  Frankly, that's as close to claiming ownership as you can get.

Another one you can have back, Alexander Downer [a former foreign minister here] complete with fishnet stockings and his crotchless panties.

I dunno, why is it we end up with so many British deviants and perverts in Aussie politics?  Is it because their reputations were so tarnished in the UK they had no hope of getting into the House of Commons, thus necessitating a trip overseas to get elected?

Come to think of it, which I do, British politics has had some of the messiest scandals in history, so that wouldn't be it.  Nah, it's a subversive plot to export British perversions to all corners of the globe now the Empire is no longer.

There will be NO selfie.  My Nokia Lumia 820 is a sturdy, well built phone... it's just NOT 'that' good.

I will, however, get some snaps of the man cave when I'm done... though it is going more slowly than I would have liked.  I've had a couple of days with more-severe-than-usual hip, knee and back pain, mixed with a less than pleasant dose of vertigo to hamper proceedings.

The move itself [19 hours all up] took a greater toll on me than I first thought.  I/we really could have used a couple extra pairs of hands, but my nephews were otherwise occupied with work and family commitments, and others were unavailable for a variety of reasons... some I suspect "simply couldn't be bothered"

Oh well, I'm here now and everything will fall into place with time and a bit of effort.

Well... the last two were a psychopath and a lying manipulative shrew playing the chic card... if we fed all the deserving pollies to the salties.... Australia would have a morbid obesity croc problem...  they'd be blowing out from wallets and handbags to complete luggage sets...

...when it comes time to feed Bill Shorten to the salties... I'm sure it will be a welcome, easy to digest meal, as it'll be spineless....

....anyway.... I thought the WC forums were supposed to be free of politics now?.... or is that just a rule for US politics.... way nicer political free I must say...

Quoting starkers,

bet you could have rounded them up at the titty bar...

nah... you can keep him in the Jimmy Savile Memorial Block...

Good to hear you're getting all settled starkers.... nothing like Mum's cooking...      I'm sure you'll both be a great support to one another... and lots of catching up on things.... have fun with your Mum....
