Tonight (technically tomorrow morning) at 12:11 am (EDT) there will be a full “Honey Moon” on a Friday the 13th in almost 100 years.

This one is special because the full moon also coincides with perigee so, it’ll appear very large on the horizon.

Add to this mix the June summer solstice and an itty bitty dust in the air…et voila a honey colored (amber) moon.

Don’t miss it…it won’t happen again until 2098!

Now if only these dang clouds would vacate the area I might get to see it. Fat chance.

It may be clear enough here to see it, but.......1:00 AM is way past this old farts bedtime. If I can stay awake, I'll try to snap some photos.

It wouldn't be the first "Honey Moon" I slept through.

Being in the Southern Hemisphere, and it being Winter down here at present, I'll have to wait 'til the next Honey Moon... at least that way I'll have ample time to book a flight North so's I can cop an optic of this impressive event.

Moon was huge...especially at moonrise. It looked pale to me, but wth...it's still Fri. 13th...maybe the moon got some crumby luck.

I saw a moon like that about 30 years ago.  I'll never forget it!  We lived in a seaside town back then and when the moon began to rise from behind the horizon it was huge and then some.  My I and my g/f at the time stood and watched while it fully emerged.  Talk about massive, and it had this silvery white appearance that lit up the night sky like it was almost daylight... it's reflection off the water likely contributed to this sensation.

Anyway, as we stood watching the full moon dance along the watery horizon for about 20 minutes, we also saw a shooting star flash across the bay before seemingly being extinguished in its watery grave.  Like WOW, two 'heavenly' events in the one evening to fill us with awe and wonder.

Oh, and that business about wishing on a falling star.... bullshit!   Those days with her were among the happiest times of my life... and despite my wish they ended roughly 5 - 6 years later.  Never mind, I'd not have met Shaunna - had my wish been granted - and those days with her were even better.

Hehe, maybe wishing on a falling star does come true for the faithful... and that I made my wish on a piece of space junk re-entering the Earth's atmosphere.

Quoting Uvah,

Clouds everywhere!

Could've been worse!  Lots worse!

Had it been in the Southern Hemisphere it would've happened to me.

Seriously, it would have been an awesome spectacle and I'm sorry that the clouds didn't disperse and you missed it. [e digicons]:'([/e]

Must have taken a hidden stash of Curried Cabbage with him from the looks of his spacesuit. That stuff is extremely volatile.
