It has more to do with the external hard drives or network drives that need to be searched when you start, if you have shortcuts created for them, this is the reason why it takes a little longer to load Fences, and also why Fences cant advance to show, in this process the required data is missing and Fences cant be displayed because it needs all the information before it can show all fences, in this process the explorer.exe is restarted (right click on the desktop), however, in my experience this is not in connection with the boot time or sequence of windows8 rather than power settings for the drive and response time itself.
Let's say I create a list with shortcuts for my internal hard drives and start Fences, then it loads very quickly and is immediately ready for use as soon as you can see your desktop.
But if I add external hard drives with large data volume and i create shortcuts to subfolders ( and even if i create a completely new Fewnce for them seperately ) then fences is having problems to load and needs accordingly long to display the shortcuts or icons.
The problem i see here is that Fences is not yet able to display already loaded Fences, it needs to have all the data to show up.
Fences cant show them until everything is finished loading.
We tested this with a Super Talent Raid Drive PCI-e SSD and SSD...then we hooked up 2 externals each 1 TB and created random shortcuts for several subfolders.
I mentioned the Supertalent only to show that it is not windows8 faking, at that point windows8 is loaded, long before fences is able to display the external subfolder icons or shortcuts.
