Yes…like the Transformers. Only for W7 and W8.

When we buy computers, we expect them to come with a media player, a calculator, a browser, etc.

We also (from prior computers have our preferences for each function and pretty much have come to expect that we’d have to download a program for each task. Not that the one coming with the OS isn’t sufficient, it might just boil down to whether it’s skinnable, or if you like dark themes, would just go great with them.

But…what if the media player you might be looking for also had several apps combined with it AND was portable? Also, it runs on XP, as well tablets/touch screen devices. Not too shabby.

Well, I’d say let’s take a look at what it comes with. It’s packed with a media player, image viewer, file manager, text editor, browser, bookmark manager, notes keeper, calculator, color picker, screenshot tool, clipboard monitor, and even more.

Features:

  • Watch Video files
  • View images
  • Quick access to music
  • Edit texts
  • Use notes
  • Make simple HTML pages
  • Rename, copy and navigate your files
  • Use web browser
  • Manage your Internet bookmarks
  • Take screenshots
  • Use your gamepad as a mouse
  • Use virtual keyboard
  • Use magnifying glass
  • Play games
  • Use a calculator
  • Notes manager
  • Available in English, German, French, Russian, Spanish language

Ubiquitous Player (download from Major Geeks), is really worth looking at.

Does it replace other dedicated apps? Probably not.

BUT, it brings a lot to the same table under one roof with the ability to modify many parameters, and change the interface scaling (nice for visually challenged folks) and even set hotkeys related to screen capturing.

For people on low resource machines (like netbooks or older machines), it might just be your ideal solution.

Looks like it could be a useful tool, particularly as it is portable and can easily be stored on/accessed from a USB stick.  I like that idea.

While over at the linked page I took the time to read a couple of interesting articles... one being on the need to reboot to fix many PC problems.  Hence I have bookmarked the site for future reference.

And thanks for the heads up, Seth, it's another great find.

Quoting DrJBHL,

You're welcome, Mark, and thanks for an idea for an article.

No worries, mate, anything to help the good folk of WC... and a better understanding of PC workings is a good thing for everyone.  I know that the things I've learned in the time I've been coming here has helped resolved many an issue and saved me money.

Before I became a regular here, and was still very much a computer novice, I'd be off to the PC repair man for the simplest  things that I can now fix myself.

Quoting DrJBHL,
For Jafo: Rebooting means...off to the races!

'Cept that in his old age, Jafo's bum is closer to the ground than that... meaning that bloke up there is an imposter.

That's right..

The boy stood on the burning drawbridge

just outside the besieg-ed castle

he gave a cough

his pants fell off

as sparks flew out his ass'le.
