Hey guys. Wanted to share a story with you.

I have sleep apnea, among other health problems, and due to diabetes and dry mouth, I can't wear my BIPAP.

So, after a good rest for the first few hours, I wake every 30 minutes or so, due to the sleep apnea.

Hence, I sleep late.

Not today. Today I get a frantic call, on the answering machine because I don't keep a phone in my bedroom.

My Mother in Law across the street left a message that sounded somewhat, oh, let's say hysterical...lol.

So I get up to check and the cell phone rings. It's her, she has a snake in her driveway.

I like snakes, so I am on it. No biggie, just a black snake. A small one at that.

When my daughter was alive I had one of those in my back yard about 4 feet long, she was scared to death! So I ended up killing it as I did not know what kind of snake it was until afterwards. May not be poisonous, but it sure looked like it had a nasty bite!

Quoting DrJBHL,

Not a poisonous snake, Jim. Why did you kill it?

Because my Mother in Law insisted. She has a great fear of snakes.

Unhappy Mother in Law can be very poisonous.

Beings you killed it hope at least you skinned it and are making some stew or soup out of it. That should be right up a rednecks alley.

You got up early. The sun is out and that is when everyone should be up,.

you need to educate your mother-in-law... just need to point 'em in the right direction and they head off on their merry way... (the snake... not the mother-in-law, sadly)......they don't wanna be around humans any more than mother-in-laws wanna be around snakes... tell her they keep the mice and rats down... or would she prefer them...in the house..

my brother has sleep apnoea.. when home last year he went to a sleep clinic and, all hooked up to machines...stopped breathing 41 times every hour...

he is back in Seattle, and because of the cold, has a humidifier thingummy attachment with it so doesn't get a dry throat.... have you tried that?

he now sleeps like a rock... no snoring at all... and life is way better...     link....          link...

Resmed machines are really cheap over there...compared to Oz... they're a very good machine... I used to work for them... a top product...

No....

THIS is a snake.

It ain't big....but it doesn't need to be.

"A TEENAGER was seriously ill in hospital today after being bitten by the world's most venomous snake, with detectives probing how he came into contact with the desert reptile.

The 17-year-old walked into a hospital in the small town of Kurri Kurri, north of Sydney, yesterday with a bite to his left hand.

His friend was carrying a plastic tub containing the snake responsible, which was later identified as the toxic inland taipan.

Also known as the fierce snake due to the strength of its venom - one drop of which is enough to kill 100 adult men - the inland taipan typically lives in central Australia's arid deserts and is not normally seen on the coast.

Detectives have been called in to investigate where the snake had come from, with speculation it could have been an illegal pet."

About what I did in the sleep study. Seems a bit much to me, that's almost every minute.

Since it was in the driveway, did you use the tried and true Redneck Method of prepairing wild game for the table? That is to say, did y'all fire up the pick-up truck and run over the critter a couple of times to soften it up for cooking?

I have a Resmed BIPAP machine. Problem is, being a diabetic, I have constant dry mouth.

My BIPAP is set at a very high pressure, and the humidifier doesn't help. Set on cool, no help, set on warm, stifles me. Keeps me busy pulling it loose to get a drink, for the dry mouth. Therefore, still no sleep.

Tried the nose only thing, I am a mouth breather. I can't get enough air via my nostrils.

Also, the sheer size of the full face mask keeps me awake by it's mere presence.

I stop breathing every time I exhale....until I inhale again, then stop again, then exhale again........ It's all about momentum.  You never want to lose that.

Titanoboa, lived about 55 million years ago in what is now Columbia. What's in his mouth is a crocodile, ate them for breakfast. This one is 48 feet long and weighed a couple of tons. Now that's a snake.

In my house, I'd have to kill it, chop it into small bits, and then bury it far from home. Then I would have to make sure there were no witnesses. Because if there were witnesses, I'd have the added problem of having to get rid of them as well since my wife has informed me that if we ever find a snake on the premises we would have to move to move immediately.
