Nice that an update for Win 8 is released but what about the bug fixes, were they addressed?

I was hoping for a fix for the no config window issue I have on XP.  Before I attempt to install it, does 2.1 run on XP at all?

2.1 is only for Windows 7/8.

All testing with that error is indicative of the .net framework being corrupted or not installed.

I ran all tests and tools requested by support and it was determined that there is nothing wrong with any NET versions on my XP system. I went as far as to do a complete reinstall of the OS and start from scratch. The free version works fine, the paid version does not. I decided not to waste any more time with it and gave up on OD Plus, as obviously SD has now also as far as XP is concerned. Not a biggy, I was just wondering if I should try this new version.

I was hoping the team might have updated the Stacks docklet to appear more like the Rocketdock one - the gird option is much better imo. Any chance of this in the future?

OK, in the store, for me, it shows as version 2.09.0.  Is this correct?

Stacks is a third-party docklet and not a Stardock one.

ObjectDock Changelog

  • Access your shortcuts and applications from an animated dock. ( A pre-existing feature, not a change)
  • Add as many docks as you wish (Unless this also applies to the free version, nothing new there)
  • Drag and drop application launching (Unsure if that was already a feature, never tried it.)
  • Robust dock customization options and skins (Any new options?)
  • Windows 8 / 7 required (XP/Vista are no longer supported)

Which is identical to this, from the OP:

Features:

  • Access your shortcuts and applications from an animated dock
  • Add as many docks as you wish
  • Drag and drop application launching
  • Robust dock customization options and skins
  • Windows 8 / 7 required (XP/Vista are no longer supported)

So, basically, Windows 8 support and dropping XP/Vista are the only real changes?

Gain one OS, lose two.

Just dreaming of OD 2.1 supporting the Apng (Animatedpng) graphic format as for the Icons on the dock as for the Dockbackground images !!

Quoting Zubaz,

IMHO,the bug reports would have been the first thing to address, rather than Win 8 compatibility, What good is an outdated buggy program on a new OS? But, beyond bug fixes for the long running issues; (long load times, text behind the tabs, left hand mouse usage issues, random crashing which resets the dock back to default, to name  several):

A much simplified, one click way to back up and restore your settings.

A "Send to ObjectDock" r-click entry to add shortcuts to the dock.

More options for the custom flyout menu, perhaps emulating the stacks docklet functions. A speed adjustment on the current one would also be nice. Sub-docks, such as used in NeXus would be extra great.

More dock/undock options along the lines of WFX animations. (fade, collapse, implode, wobble, open from, etc.)

Adjustable spacing between icons, and a way to use a much thinner separator between them.

A lot more m/o- launch animation choices.

In short, in all honesty, a lot more like NeXus and less like the unsupported, defunct Rocketdock.

Thanks for being open to ideas, that is what beta releases are all about.
