I dislike toolbars and their propensity to track you and who knows what else.

Many folks have a really tough time trying to remove them and their vestiges.

This tool works. You can read about it and download it here: http://thisisudax.org/

and there’s a review here:

http://www.ghacks.net/2013/04/22/junkware-removal-tool-uninstalls-popular-toolbars-and-unwanted-software-from-your-pc/?_m=3n%2e0038%2e858%2ehj0ao01hy5%2evtf

There’s no choice about which to remove. It’s a “search and destroy” once you install and run it, it’ll search out the following toolbars:

  • Ask Toolbar
  • Babylon
  • Browser Manager
  • Claro / iSearch
  • Conduit
  • Coupon Printer for Windows
  • Crossrider
  • DealPly
  • Facemoods / Funmoods
  • iLivid
  • Iminent
  • IncrediBar
  • MyWebSearch
  • Searchqu
  • Web Assistant

What’s really nice is:

“When run, Junkware Removal Tool will remove all traces of these programs including their files, Registry keys, and folders.” - http://thisisudax.org/

Now some words of caution:

If you have toolbars from the list above and wish to remove them, you can try the tool, but first:

1. Make a restore point!

2. Make a backup!

That way, no matter what, you’re protected and a disaster will be averted.

Or you could just never install any toolbars.

True enough, Tim... but sometimes they get installed without being noticed with other software. If they're there, they can be hell on earth to remove... hopefully this will help those so afflicted.

I downloaded and ran the scan on my computer and fully expected that it would find nothing, since I never install toolbars and there was never an indication that there were any hiding somewhere. I was WRONG !!  The scan found "conduit" hiding in my system. WOW !!   It's been removed now and all is well. I can't thank you enough for posting this Doc , I really appreciate it and so does my computer.                 -- Ace --

Well guess I will have to use it now. I know I have none of those. That was my first thoughts when I saw this post but now not sure.

Avast has a free Toolbar Removal Tool.  I prefer to use software from companies I've heard of.  It's labeled "Browser Cleanup" after the link

BernieTime, check reply #3... also, one might have remnants of old, removed toolbars in the registry which this utility can remove. It's not limited to the browser.

Quoting DrJBHL,

That is what makes this a very valuable tool to have. Babylon and Conduit in particular like to hide out on your system in several places, even after they have been supposedly removed. Great find Doc! Added to my arsenal.

After doing virus/adware removals I already use a couple of registry cleaners so don't think this tool does anything new for me that isn't already being done.

I also run registry clearners and guess what, this little program found unwanted items, so far I've found no down side to running this.

Terrific piece of software. It found some remnants lurking and removed them.

It's odd that on a rig that has a fresh OS install and only IE on it with no toolbars ever installed that things still got snuck into the registry. I am beginning to think that installers/wrappers place things there even if you have opted out of any offered toolbars. Since I often try out free software, this is one tool that will get regular usage.

Thanks again, Doc.
