Can't move Icons into fences or from fence to fence

I can't drag and drop desktop icons, I have the latest version of Fences installed. When I click and drag them the round circle with a line through it appears. Thanks!

What version of Windows do you use?
Do you use other Windows-modifying programs (Stardock's ones or not) besides Fences?

I am having the same issues. Win8 with Object Desktop suite installed. I can't drag icons into the fences either.

I turned off DeskScapes8 Beta and could move things around then turn it back on and tada done

I also experience this issue, with the latest beta of fences and deskscapes 8. I uninstalled deskscapes 8, and installed it again (I can't seem to find an option to turn off deskscapes 8.)and now I can move the icons again.

Same issue for me. With DeskScapes8 installed I cannot move fence icons. Uninstalled DS8 and I can now move the icons. Won't reinstall DS8 until the incompatibility is fixed. I hope Stardock staff is monitoring the forum and knows there's a bug causing this problem.

Same problem here.

It's the combination of Fences and Deskscapes in Windows 8 I guess.

I installed deskscapes 8 beta before fences => can't drag any desktop icons around.

De-installed deskscapes 8 beta => Could move desktop icons

Installed deskscapes 8 beta again => Couldn't move icons anymore.

Try to log out of Windows 8 then log back in (not reboot) and see if you can move them.

That doesn't seem to change anything.

I Still can't move icons that are not in fences, or drag any icons into fences.

I can however drag the fences themselves around.

I just installed Descapes 8, and have the same problems with Fences. Although I can open items in each fence by double clicking, I cannot move ANY icons, whether it is in a Fence or not. Turning off Descapes 8 restores control.

I am also running into the same issues when dragging shortcuts to a Fence. One thing that I did noticed that was not mentioned in any previous post was that I am able to drag desktop shortcuts to created "Folder Portals" with no problem.

All the Software listed below was installed on February 16, 2013 and I had no issues until this morning. I rebooted and Logged off but it did not help.

I wonder if a Windows Update has caused the conflict?

PC Specs:

Windows 8 32 & 64 bit dual-boot

Lenovo Workstation S20 Xeon

16GB memory

Stardock Software Installed:

Decor8 - Version 1.01

DeskScapes 8 - Version 8.00

Fences 2 - Version 2.01

Start8 Version 1.11

This is only a Temporary fix until Stardock resolves the problem.

Instead of uninstalling DeskScapes you can turn it off under "Services\Stardock DeskScapes 8" right click on it and select "Properties" then "Disable" under the "Start type:" option then select "Stop" under the "Service status". You may need to restart after these changes. Once Stardock has resolved the issue you will need to go back into Services and reverse the settings.

You can always setup your Fences the way you like and then go back and turn DeskScapes Services back on again.

Hope this temporarily helps.

Agh, this fix works but it's a real PITA if you use your desktop lots!

- Deskscapes 3 (3.50) (launches Deskscapes 8 though)
- Deskscapes 8 (8.00)
- Fences 2 (2.09[Beta])
- Modern Mix (0.96[Beta})
- Start 8 (1.11)
- WindowFX 5 (5.10)

I'm rather NOT interested in stopping the Deskscapes service OR to re-logon, Cause I wouldn't install Deskscapes if I don't want to use it and the whole logon sequence of my machine isn't the fastest one.
(got a lot of tray Icons that have their own boot issues not related to stardock)

Same issue on my Windows 8 x64 box. Again, disabling deskscapes cured the problem so it definitely seems to be some sort of clash, but why now when it's been working fine I do not know.

Same issue as everyone else. I did find that I could cut/paste icons back and forth between fences, just not drag. Hope that helps someone until they figure out a fix.
