Agreed, Paul.
I opted out of the tool bar/search engine/Home Page installation. Everone should, and really, it is a perfectly good program which you can use effectively and easily. I just don't know what info is sent, and having Photoshop I figured this wasn't worth the chance.
When installing ANY program, all stages of the installation should be observed closely, and action taken when necessary. You and only you are responsible for your computer.
I just picked up Ashampoo's Snap 5 (as I had Snap 4 installed previously) for $7.99.
Lo and behold, I was faced with the "Express" vs. "Advanced" options. In very faded print, only made clear after ticking the "Advanced" option, the same choices of Snap Tool Bar, Home Page and Search engine appeared and could be "deselected".
In other words, had I chosen the "Express" mode, I would have ended up with the tool bar, home page and search engine changes.
So, I would suggest being wary with any and every software installation, no matter if "free" (never are - end up costing $14.99, on average) or "paid for".
Which gives me an idea for an article....
