EaseUS Partition Manager Pro now updated to 9.1–Excellent “must have tool” and well worth the investment

EaseUS Partition Master Professional Edition (EPMP 9.1) is an all in one partition solution and disk management utility. I’m reviewing it alone, and its merits but not comparing it to other tools since it really is a composite of three separate tools. To try and sum up all the features, I’d need a website all my own, but EaseUS already has that. You’d be better served to download the trial copy (link at end) read the “Help” file fully, watch the tutorials and use it for the trial period.

EPMP 9.1 allows you to extend partitions, especially for your system drive, fix low disk space problems, and manage disk space easily on the MBR and GUID partition table (GPT) disk under 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7 (SP1 included).

The most popular hard disk management functions are brought together with powerful data protection including: Partition Manager, Disk & Partition Copy Wizard and Partition Recovery Wizard.

Several of the program's recovery-oriented features really excel: The ability to convert dynamic disks easily to basic disks without losing data, which helps when extending partitions or repurposing older disks. Another great feature is the ability to create a bootable recovery CD or DVD. It can rebuild a damaged Master Boot Record to make a disk bootable again, something that would have come in handy more than once for me, when my Acronis wouldn’t run due to errors. Especially noteworthy as well as useful the ease with which you can copy your entire main drive completely to another disk even if larger, such as an older disk you're replacing with a new, larger one: A cloned image copy is better than any compressed backup file every time and before any cloning. A chkdsk /f is run as part of the cloning process. Only missing is a “smart defrag” after the chkdsk is run to make the disk and clone more compact and faster.

EPMP 9.1 can support USB Flash Drive, Memory Card, etc. too.

The interface is Windows 7 vanilla, but do you really need more when doing these operations? I honestly prefer keeping it simple, clearly labeled and functional when doing critical operations.

What I like the most though is the “one stop shop” Partition Master Pro 9.1 provides.

It isn’t free. It costs $39.99, and it should. That really isn’t a lot considering you’re getting three separate fully explained programs integrated in one piece of software. The “Help” is both online and in PDF form. The online help includes video tutorials and really covers the program features fully.

OS’s: 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7(SP1 included). On x64 systems it will install in the C:\Program Files\Programs (x486) directory because the backup operation is x486 as yet not updated to x64 which is likely in the future.

Devices:

IDE, SATA, SCSI, USB removable hard disk, and Firewire external hard disks are all supported by EASEUS Partition Master. The minimum capability is 2 GB and the maximum is 8 TB. EPMP 9.1 can support 32 disks at most.

Great software! Easy to use, fast and does exactly what you want it to do.

I agree with Doc, it's a "must have."

I snagged the last two versions on giveawayoftheday and currently have 9.0.0 installed. Keep an eye out on that site as they may feature this update soon.

I have no need for it as do not partition drives, I have 4 internal drives 2 750 gig, two 1.5 TB. I have 6 External hard drives, one 2 TB, 2 1 TB, One 250 gig, One 160 Gig, and one 500 gig. alond with numerous flash drives and various other cards of different sizes.

I agree with OldMsgt, if you need more drive space buy another drive. I don't feel comfortable trusting my data to a program or file that can get corrupted or malfunction due to some other unforeseen issue. I also have several drives for different purposes. Some of my drives are just for data and others contain programs and others contain just games. It was just like when drive compression was the thing, that didn't last either.

Odd, I seem to recall these things on most new PC's called a Recovery Partition that is there in case the main partition gets borked. A partition can be your friend. Any HDD can become corrupted, partitioned or not.

So I take it you back up nothing, since you don't "trust" any program as it might become corrupted. Why do you use a computer at all? To play games only? Btw, your OS is corruptable as well....

Backing up your data, and programs is critical. No serious person argues with that. If you are backing it up, you're contradicting yourself as you would have to use software to do that, and that software is, by your argument, corruptable....

I can't imagine how you can function without doing that as every system/HDD fails at some point. You choose to lose everything, and reinstall everything from scratch? Why would you choose to waste that much time? We're talking the difference between a few minutes and several hours.

Even if the software malfunctioned (which would give an error message) you'd be no worse off than you are right now not making backups at all...

Buying a new system, as well as migrating your OS/programs and data to different disks is not a hard thing if you have software like EPMP 9.1. In fact, it saves you having to buy other software for the purposes mentioned in the review.

I am continually amazed by the degree of technophobia I encounter. If you and OldMsgt don't want the software, don't buy it.

True, and they only help those who buy OEM PC's, like most of my family and friends, who know nothing of disc images or even making repair discs or recovery discs. I doubt many of them back anything up to anywhere, or even have a Windows install DVD to do a clean reinstall with. Having an intact Recovery Partition is sometimes the only "rescue equipment" they have.

but I digress....the software is great if you have a need for it. It's safe, reliable and updated on a regular basis and.....It does much more than just create partitions.

I never said it was not great or reliable, I just said I have no need for it. If I ever needed a partition, and yes I have played around with partitions. I find the native one in W7 is all I need. However I sometimes wonder when I see something like this is the greatest and you really need it if the Original poster is not shilling for the software.

I was going to jokingly remark that Doc must be getting a kickback for these recommendations yesterday but I decided it would be bad form.

Well actually I put this in motion, and Doc was kind of enough to check this out and do a write-up of this. WC is primarily a skinning site, but skinning goes right along with technology and passing along information, reviews, etc. of quality apps that might help some of our users has been a big help here. Hence the reason we have Doc putting up all these great articles.

Let me be clear with this so there's no confusion in the future. Doc, myself, and any other moderator here don't receive kickbacks or anything of the like when posting these articles. Sometimes developers will offer a registration key so products can be given a thorough review without restrictions, and that is common practice for this type of thing.

I have been looking into partners so we can possibly have some giveaways, but if it's going to be an issue then I can just X that idea now.

Just be upfront, stating that you are in a partnership, in which both sides receive something no matter what the something is, I never said anyone received a kickback, it just made me wonder.

If you are going to get touchy feely about the comments than I guess you better nix it. Jeeeeze what a thin skin group of Mods.

For what I.D. does for the site, there's no "Thanks, I.D.". "Partners" means "donors" of prizes, etc.

Back to the original topic...this seems like a very useful tool and worth checking out.

The use of partitions isn't for everyone and they are useful in certain circumstances and not for others...your mileage may vary. I would also like to point out that if you are uncomfortable with tweaking your system or are not a power user, than perhaps this software isn't for you.

Thanks for pointing it out Doc. As I said earlier...keep em' coming. I think it's great that you take the time to check these out and recomend the cream of the crop for us. It's saves me the time and trouble of doing it myself and I can always count on you to point out the best.
