I am looking for a video of flames/fire that i can composite onto the edges of my wallpaper to make it look as if certain parts of it are on fire. Unfortunately after about 2 hours on google i can't find anything of quality, does anyone have any suggestions?

Check the Dream gallery. You'll need DreamScape to run it though. Or the screensavers gallery. You might find something you can use. Only one thing. If you do any modifications remember they have inherent copyright. For personal use its fine but you cannot upload what you create without the author's permission. Good luck.

Depending to what kind of flames your looking for try searching for
burn effects torch flamme fire since if the edges should look like its on fire i can
recommend you these:

this basically all you need to get a real good realistic effect.

this is based on a tutorial from abduzeedo- i made this over a year ago.
But the tutorial explains pretty much about it even if its for 3d text and i think its by far one of the best flame tuts out there.

Try Detonation Films. A fantastic collection of free and paid mayhem effects footage. Their website is in sore need of an overhaul, but most of the effects footage is top notch.

Given the OP date of April 21, 2011, the poster has probably already burned down the house and is now in need of firefighting equipment, not someone to fan the flames.

Now I can't get that song out of my head {burning down the house}
